My harddrive took a nose dive so I salvaged another drive but the drive is waaaay to slow
so what would you recommend for the fasted drive
out there? I was looking at a Quantem FireBall
60.G at 7200 rpm. other suggestion's? IDE

Well the current SOTA is 7200rpm  ATA100/133 so pretty much if it fits in that category it is good enough for home use.

Get something with ATA 100.  Most pc's don't support ATA 133.  7200rpm is the standard now.

60 Gigs? You'll fill that with porn from the net way to fast.  I have to recommend at least a terabyte drive.

All kidding aside, go to this site [url]www.storagereview.com[/url].  They have all the information about hard drives you could ever want.  They also have a database with all of the numbers to be able to compare any drives you are thinking about.

I got the western digital"JB" special edition 120gig 7200rpm with the 8mgs of cache.  A review I read in maximumPC rated it and the new IBMs very well. With the latest IBM HD controversy though I decide to play it safe.
