Early last month, the smaller of these two bit me;
  I didn't think too much about it, but had noticed that the top part of the bite seemed to have scarred up pretty big. Today something snagged at that spot, and it felt like a splinter. I got the tweezers out, and pulled out a snake tooth. What I thought was a tall scar, is now flat again.  On the tweezers;  and on the desk;  (I don't have good enough light in here to take better pics of something so small). Typo |

Out of curiosity, how did you treat the wound initially?
wash, antiseptic, neosporin, repeat daily or wrap in paper towel until it stops bleeding Seems like a prime scenario for infection. ETA, cool story bro About a year ago I was in a remote area digging exploratory test pits to find the limits of trash of an old abandoned landfill. I had the excavator operator dig down, and I used a tape measure to measure the depth of the trash. The whole site was full of leachate pockets from 30-60 year old trash, after the hole was dug leachate would run in like a river. After measuring one hole i retracted the tape, which sliced a nice gash in my finger, grinding in half a century of nastiness. Pressed for time, I wiped it off on my jeans and kept going. 6 + hours later, went to the DR to get a tetanus booster, i guess as a CYA they soaked it in peroxide. Figured it would get infected for sure, but surprisingly never did. |

I don't normally even do that much, but I was in the process of changing their water dish, which one of them had pooped in. I figured that since I had fresh poop water on my hands, I should at least rinse the wounds. |

Fuck.......I rollled my lawn tractor trying to run those slimy things down........Do not want none,want a pet that is safe....get you a Chia Pet..saw they got one one for the selling season in the messiah image,has green hair once it grows,that is the only thing worse than snakes

They will bite you. Repeatedly and often. You do not flinch or withdraw. You keep handling them. After a little bit they realize that biting you isn't doing any good, and that you are not hurting them. Five minutes. The next day, you do it again. Three minutes. Next day, two minutes. Next day, a few halfhearted strikes. For a week, all same same. After that, they rarely ever bite. The litter is ready to sell. You will be bitten literally hundreds of times each litter. Probably a thousand or two. Each one kinda stings. All together really hurts. But that is what they are, and they just need taught. And when you are done, they know that humans won't (usually) hurt them, and biting humans does no good. And now you have good snakes, ready to sell for top dollar. I have been bitten many thousands of times. I have pulled dozens of teeth out of my hands. It's all good though. I have a high pain tolerance anyway, due to chronic pain from injuries, and no fear of serpents. |

Heh. I remembered reading in several books that Mexican vine snakes will act up but seldom bite while I was looking at one on a gravel road in SE AZ. I found out after I picked it up that snakes can't read.
On the other hand, I have three pet snakes now, none of them has ever tried to bite. They vary. |

I had the same thing happen to me with a little shark. I was removing the hook when someone got my attention and he saw this tasty finger just waiting for a bite. I couldn't figure out why one cut out of 3 or 4 wasn't healing like the rest. I finally got to squeezing on it one night and a tooth popped out.
