Yeah, I saw that on Slashdot.

Wonder if there are any firearm implications?

Maybe carbon nanotubule primers?  Instead of a firing pin you'd have a light that triggers the cartidge...

If they could make the whole case out of carbon nanotubes then they would have something. They had problems with getting the G11 to work right, maybe this is the solution..

Flash firing pin.
Carbon Nanotube Casing
Put the powder in the case
Caseless Ammunition.

The heat or energy requirements are 600 deg celcius.

Very intersting.
