Hi, I just finished building (err..assembling) my first AR-15 (of many, I'm sure). I'm now looking to accessorize my rifle. I've seen many threads on the latest, greatest doo-dads but I was also thinking that there must be some accssories that should be avoided as unnecessary, stupid, or down right dangerous. So...does anyone have a story to share? Thanks...

Gapper (don't know if this counts, if it does than NV).

Edited to add: it's the solution to a non-existant problem.

Y'know I think these look silly and was prepared to hate them but I tried one today and it actually helped, you can pull the rifle toward your shoulder which helps stability.

Pistol grip plug falls out with no provocation, useless.

Tac-triggers suck.

Tac-latch isn't one of my favorites.  You can reach the charging handle under the optics easily IMHO.

Haven't shot it yet. Just put it together last Sunday. Soon, though, soon....:o)

Agreed.  What a serious waste of good ammo money.  Anyone want to buy a vertical fore grip cheap?

The gapper is a life saver on the middle finger knuckle.

Try holding your rifle, one handed, for a mag change, in the low ready position about 25 times in a day for a couple of days. That knuckle supports a good deal of pressure up against those sharp little edges.

Gapper=good

I'll have to disagree about few items posted.

1) three point sling:  Definitley more comfy that the "silent sling" and won't come undone sending your AR crashing to the ground.

2) Vert Grip:  More natural/comfortable way to steady your rifle.

3) Gapper: definitely looking into that of a decent pair of gloves.  Ditto to AR15for fun's post.

I definitely agree with all those tac triggers.

UNLESS you can get

-37mm bird bombs (flash bang application)
-37mm smoke (obvious)
-37mm flares (incindeary)
-37mm CS (obvious)

also a few cool LE 37mm rounds out there if you can lay your hands on them.

HOWEVER, none of the above is as fun as the 40mm and it's available rounds.

A "look alike" non collapsable stock.  Looks like the real thing for all those who wanna look like the real thing.
I've seen no reason for this, but I guess that a lot of you do.  Wasn't it on the 1st LEGP?

Hey..if you really want to get rid of the vertical fore grip I have been looking for a good cheap one.  I actually had one ordered from AZShooter, but...well we won't go into that.

Shoot me an email....I would email you but I am not at home now.

Sniper_Wolfe - maybe you've never shot your AR *all day long*, or maybe you have "leather hands".

The "gap" will grind your middle finger's middle knuckle up - very uncomfortable.

Gapper fixes that.

A bench shooter would never notice.
