Anywhere near the Cape should give you a good view. Try and watch a night launch, super badass.

I think there is a causeway down there a lot of people park on to watch it.
I think you got to get there several hours early though to get a spot, and then you run the risk of a scrubbed launch.

Titusville is the closest without getting on the cape.
Specially where, I don't know. I was fortunate enough to be working for NASA at the cape for all of the launches I saw  IT IS worth it. I think the actual launch pads are just North East of Cochran Cove (IIRC) |

I'm thinking of going down, too. Don't have the money, but I have the time. With my luck I'll have a schedule conflict with the last launch in February and can't make it.
Heard on the radio today that the launch got moved out one day due to some kind of leak. So, the launch is Nov 2nd, now. Good thing I didn't buy plane tickets and book a hotel for the Nov 1 launch. |

I was in Sarasota on one of the last early morning launches and could not believe how clear and cool it was to see it from that far away. I would love to view it from a closer location.

Space Park in Tittyville... after NASA shuts down, the bars will be opening up big time and much debauchery will be moving in. Witnessed four night launches from there - usually watch from Jax. Take full fuel and something to eat/drink as you will be trapped by thousands of cars trying to gain entry to and exit from the launch.

This...the traffic sucks, but the view is worth it...my wife and I bought tickets for the causeway 3 years ago. Just checked Ebay and there are several for bid but they are big bucks. I think we paid $250 for 2 tickets 3 years ago. We drove down from NC...watched the shuttle launch at 1am, got in the car, sat in traffic and then drove back to NC....it was a cool trip.

My friend is a serious photographer and a space nut who lives very close to the Cape.
I queried him and here is his reply ... Tell them to be in place 6+ hr before launch and to expect gridlock after the launch. Many of the locations will be filled by 6 hours before the launch. These are the last flights and the crowds are going to be crazy The best location is any place along the Indian River in Titisville. Another good location is the barge lock in Cape Canaveral Thanks, Cliff 
Stay safe His 2nd bit of info ... Okay here is the low down ... If you goto Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral You can't see it on the pad. But you will see it as soon as it clears the tower. It comes up from behind the crane at the sub base. If you go to the barge lock or the north side of the road (SR 401) leading to the cruise ships you can see it on the pad. You can go to Titusville and anyplace along the river will provide a view. Other than the 2 county parks you can expect to pay $10-20 to park. Forget about the area near to the Max Brewer bridge on SR 406 as all the RVs are already setting up to spend the night there. And yes, get there early as it will fill up 4+ hours before launch. You can expect gridlock after the launch of scrub, It can last 3 hours. |
