Seoul, South Korea (CNN) –– North Korean and South Korean military units exchanged gunfire near their border Friday, South Korean authorities said. |
Game on.
Quickly, someone send the chosen one over to apologize on behalf of South Korea for defending themselves. For anyone that can't see that North Korea is going to start WWIII, you must be blind. |
Hasn't that kind of random exchange been going on in the DMZ forever? Any vets who served there want to chime in? |
That happens now and again on the DMZ. Five rounds? Not much of a fire fight.
Happens all the time. If nothing is going to happen after N. Korea sank that S. Korean ship then nothing will come of this.

Yes. They shoot at each other all the time. |
The Korean War never technically ended so not much needs to be done in order for us to send troops that way

North Korea is looking for more handouts. It's their way of saying "Please send more food and money"

Korea, I'd sink every NK flagged cargo vessel carrying food into their eat dirt country. |
I doubt WWIII will be started by NK, they would not last long with China backing them up and China now has way too much to lose economically to go to war with SK and by proxy us.

Its nothing new. There have been skirmishes on the border for years.

You know that dirthole, communist gulag, well on it's way into the stone age, deserves some attention. Not that we need another war right now, but you are correct, they will lash out as they circle the drain. Ruining 17M people's lives is not enough for them. |
Wake me up when 1+ million NK troops cross the border. Until then, it's normal every day life on the DMZ.
We never should have sent them aid. Clinton and Halfbright got taken on that phony deal. How could we forget that China went to war over N. Korea? The smart thing to do would be to tell the Chinese that THEY are responsible for feeding them. God knows they have the money (trillions). They use crazy Kim as a way to distract us and we should have stopped playing along decades ago.

After the sinking of that ship, SK should monkey stomp the NORKS.
Not all that uncommon from what I understand. The NK's are known to occasionally take a shot across the Border or lob a Mortar Round across the Border. In the overall scheme of things this is minor compared to the sinking of the ROKS Cheonan back in March that killed 46 South Korean Sailors.

Lots of unemployable short people in the workers paradise. Very true. I saw a story awhile ago that after the famine of the 90's in NK the average person in NK is shorter than before due to stunted growth for the rampant malnutrition. The NK Army had to lower it's height standards because so few people could qualify. They are a seriously messed up society and no doubt SK would shoulder a huge burden after the war ended and NK was liberated. |

Quoted: The DMZ is a surreal place. I hope to get there someday. South Korean guards stand like this to lower their profile to NK snipers. NK guard staring down tourists at the DMZ. That's a creepy pic please close the curtains... |

My Cousin spent several years there and said it happened almost daily.

This is just part of the Korean Penn. tradition of Oct round exchange. We are westerners we wouldn't understand round exchanges and how they can bring folks together. |

For those who have been there you'll know that area is pretty hard to slog through in the summer and spring due to the rice fields etc. To the eastern part bring some carabiners and rope to haul the armor up and down some pretty steep terrain. North Korea is a pretty fascinating place. I can't wait to see the Discovery channel and National Geo shows after NK falls. Going to be hearing about some really weird shit. |

North Korea is looking for more handouts. It's their way of saying "Please send more food and money" And if the south continues to give food and aid, they are fucking idiots that deserve what will eventually happen to them. As bad as I feel for the people of the north, anything given to that government will only prolong the suffering of the people for years to come. Save up all that aid, let the north fall and use the aid for the people up there once the government is in chains awaiting execution. |
