Broke both shoulders, busted one lung and blowed the heart in half.  Small exit wound.

100 yards broadside.  I had to aim below the deer because it is sighted in at 200 yards.

I love this HandiRifle.

What round?

I still like the plain old Remington 400gr core-lokts

I had a Remington 405 grain softpoint driven to about 1700 fps fail to fully penetrate a 120 pound hog last year. I shot a 185 pound hog this past weekend with a hardcast 350 grain lead bullet with a .45 entry and exit through the shoulders and a surprising amount of bloodshot meat.

What load were you using?

Shooting a deer in the heart is unsportsmanlike.

Nothing like a heart shot that breaks the shoulder to knock them right down.

Looks like you nailed the hold over, or should I say hold under.

What's left of a deer's heart after being hit by .45-70. Top is sheared off.

Half the Bison and a staggering number of native Americans would agree.  Posthumously, of course.

All the way to the scene of her death.

Aren't 45-70 bullets quite similar to modern-day 45 cal muzzleloader bullets?

I'll post the rifle and deer tomorrow, my baby is about to be home from school and Daddy promised her she could hunt this evening.

Very nice.  I have the LeverEvolutions sighted in on my 1895G - used to carry it as a backup/brush gun.  Then I got a SOCOM16 - it upsets the Fudds more.
