CMMG mags are blackdog mags.... Only grey
Even went looking - Some cmmg .22 conversions come with the traditional smoke looking blackdog mags. |

BDM >> CMMG
That was really underhanded, what CMMG did, buying stock off BDM, then turning on them by making their own version. I won't buy .22LR from them anymore. |

Well, with what the poster said above, I may be wrong partially? I know that my sig 522 was designed to use blackdog mags, and it functions with cmmg mags and my buddies cmmg conversion will function with my blackdogs.

My BDM mags chipped around the feed lips. My CMMG mags have held up much better. Take it for what that's worth.

CMMG makes their own mags. They used to use BDM and then started making their own. The grey ribbed magazines are not and never have been BDM.
Various sources sell a variety of kits with a variety of magazines. Some have opted to sell CMMG conversions with BDM magazines and that may be confusing some folks. |

Went ahead and ordered the one with CMMG mags-Looks like Palmetto is out of them, though. Ordered it from Midway for a similar price($5 more, no big deal). I get a lot of my Midway orders within 2 days, so with any luck I'll have it Thursday.

I know a guy that had a 30 rd Blackdog mag in his conversion.
While shooting, the feed lip broke, and jammed the rifle. When the bolt was pulled back, all 25 or so remaining rounds came pouring out of the chamber. I thought it was hilarious, looked like the rifle was puking out ammo. He didn't find it as funny. |

I bought the CMMG kit from Bravo company. The mags seem a little loose in my Spikes lower. Also, the bolt feels like it's rubbing on something and really stiff.

I always thought the .22 conv. were kinda useless..........................................................then I won a CMMG at a 3gun shoot.
 . It works perfect, great for new shooters also. Very accurate, although Remington 500 bulk ammo won't feed consistantly, also a problem in my 597 Now I've got about 3000 rounds of single shot.22 ammo

The CMMG mags are a knockoff of the BDM, but a really good knockoff, and they're cheaper. I haven't had significant issues with either brand of magazine, just the typical misfeeds here and there common to all rimfire conversions.

CMMG are more durable and the Straight 10 & 15 round ones (Like Straight Body Aluminium USGI mags) are sexy and not klingon looking like BDMs ... |

I have no experience with BDM, but the CMMG mags I use have all been completely reliable and durable. No issues at all.

Of course, it gives me the same issues in my 10/22 as well, and every other semi-auto I've used it in. More squibs and duds than I can keep track of. Totally unreliable. Federal and CCI on the other hand have both been 100%. |
