Simple, they don't want him getting up. I learned a long time ago that when in a fight you never let the guy get back up and attack you again.

There's 2 answers that come to mind.
1) they are tired and need a spot to rest....... 2) Most of the time I see "the knee" it is part of the handcuffing. Even when they are down they still can have a lot of fight left in them. To apply handcuffs the arms have to be behind the back close to one another, that can be a complicated operation sometimes. They may also be "stabilizing" the suspect so they can do a search. |
