I have both and do not prefer one over the other, both well made weapons. You need a third catagory, "No Prefrence"

NO, my friend wants to buy either a bushy or a colt.  so i said i would put up a poll for him since he is not yet a member (will be soon) of ar15.com

well, i voted for bushmaster. have both, shot both. here's why:

1) easier take down.  push out pins instead of the annoying screws in the Colt

2) price.  i hate paying for name when the products are no different.

yep, that's about it.  i'm sure there are some other really minor preferences i have for the bushy, but those are the real biggies.

Why didn't you say so?  In that case, Bushmaster, for all the reasons that will be forthcoming, that I am too tired/lazy to type out.

I would like to welcome your friend to the Board.  Welcome, friend!  [beer]

Bushy.  Have a Bushmaster, had a Colt upper that I liked a lot actually, but have the Bushy now and really like it.  Working on a RRA/Bushy mutt now.

This just about says it all [:D]

However, I personally like both, with bushmaster winning the "if I had to choose one" catagory. My main problem with colt, other than paying alot extra just for a pony on the side, is their ass kissing, pants dropping, RKBA selling out actions and all the screwy parts and lack of standard parts. Other than that, I guess they are ok. [rolleyes]

BTW, I know estoner will be along shortly to spew his pony ass licking colt mantra, so in anticipation of this.....

    The Snake or The Stallion

    Good Question!!!!

Answer:  Wheeeeeeyyyy!!!!!  (Supposed to be horse sound effect) I know... it sucked.

If the front pivot pin bothers you, put in the $5 replacement pin.

Colt still holds its higher dollar value over Bushmaster during resale. So how can you just be paying for the name, when you get whatever extra money spent initially, back during resale?
Just like pre-ban versus post-ban. Some people won't pay the high pre-ban price but you hardly ever hear someone complain about the money they lost on a pre-ban they bought. I have never heard of anyone losing money on a Colt they bought.

I have a colt I bought new in 1991, it is flawless and has been 100% reliable.

I have a parts gun that contains a lot of Bushy parts. Everything fit together perfectly.  I have nothing bad to say about Bushmaster.

If I was to buy a new AR I would go with a Bushy, due to colts tendency for political correctness

I own 2 Colt's, CAR 2764's, and 2 Bushmaster's, both are V-Match, one 16 inch the other 20 inch. The "4 ARE UTTERLY RELIABLE" not one instance of unreliability, in any way, shape, or form. One of the Colt's has a JP Enterprises fire control system. The rest are box stock. They all shoot my handload into 1/4 inch 25% of the time, 3/8 inch most of the time, and 1/2 inch with my eyes closed. Choice between the two, Bushmaster for the difference in cost. I don't see enough difference in operation or performance for the cost difference. I'm not counting resale or collectable.[:D][:D]

estoner, I apologize for going off, but I only allow my wife to question my credibility [;)]  AND in closing, I will state for the record....I really like my colt, it has the best fit and finish of any AR I have owned but my bushy is damn close.

Which is going to be SPHINCTER...COLT..no..no BUSHY..no...COLT..

As far as me questioning your credibility there is no need to. It is clear to all, by your wavering convictions, that you have no credibility to question.

All mine are Colts. One is a pre ban.

But if I was you I would do a search on this site and see which has had the most problems.

Search words should be:

Problem with bushy or bustmaster.
problem with Colt.

You get the idea.

As long as it functions it is a good rifle what ever brand.

I'll second this. I happen to prefer Colts myself. Just look through the Bushmaster and Colt forums. See for yourself which has the most ongoing problems and then at least partially base your recommedation on those findings.

I can't seem to vote either. So put me down for Bushmaster. Again milspec.

Also, something really bugs me about Colt and their dumbass screw instead of push pin. And I never understood that silly ass large hole upper and lower thing. Plus they seem overpriced for what you get. Nothing they have that Bushy doesn't.

Can anybody give me a reason besides brand name that a colt is better? I mean, I can't see how Bushmaster isn't just as good.
