Ladies and Gentlemen:
Lately there have been some very disturbing trends in attempts at Gun Control Legislation.

Recently a group of State legislators from various states attended a conference in Massachussets on Banning the sale of PRE-BAN Assault Weapons headed by MA State Senator: Cheryl Jacques. State Legislators, and officials from New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut attended.

This was the FIRST conference of its kind.
It seems that our Gun Control Foes are becoming better organized at the State Level and are beginning to coordinate with each other and develop an overall strategy.

News Story at:http://www.dailynewstribune.com/news/local_regional/gunviolence04182002.htm

Also I would like to point out a Bill BEFORE the US Senate that can be used to require BACKGROUND CHECKS on Gun Powder and Primers. This Bill was Introduced by New Jersey Senator Torricelli it can be found at: Senate Bill: S2089

It seems that there are several things going on here. (1.) Gun Control Lobbying Organizations and their State Legislators are organizing Interstate Conferences for State Government Legislators on Banning the Sale of PRE-BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS as well as POST BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS at the Same time they are trying to Spike the Sales of Reloading Components (and possibley loaded Ammunition) by requiring Background Checks on at the Federal Level. IF this Bill goes through on the Federal Level, it will KILL the sale of Gun Powder and PRIMERS for Reloaders as well as possibly kill interstate sales of loaded ammunition at whole sale prices.

In summary: it is a 2 pronged strategy. (a.) Outlaw the sale of Assault Weapons at the State Level, (b.) Kill the Sale of Gun Powder and Primers at the Federal level by requiring Background checks.

It looks like Oleg Volk made an accurate prediction. Except that in Reality the situation may be a bit more dismal. Here is a Photo from his Site.

I wish we could replace those annoying TRUTH ads on TV with Olegs ads.

I always always counting on bailing out to NH or Maine if things got real bad in Mass.  I think NH and Maine in particular will not give in to Sen Jacques so easily, but if they pass laws in the future that don't allow grandfathered weapons into their state for new residents, my plans will need re-thinking...

Don't let "them" know you're bringing grandfathered guns in - or any guns, for that matter. They're not going to be able to search every car every time it crosses the border, after all.

Check this out:

I spoke with the the founder.  He's a really straight up guy.  Gun control has not and will never go away, but it's only one small piece of a much bigger problem.  These folks have the most realistic, workable solution out there.  I signed up with them and encourage others to do so, too.  I might even be able to stand living in the same state as some of you knuckleheads whom I constantly spar with on this board.

Oh, edited to add:

There will be a major event right before the 2004 AW ban ends and Congress will be pushed hard to make the ban permanent and increase the stakes.
