....not only the OLD board, but the days before their even was a board? AR-Lists & AR-Digest?
AHHH those were the days(NOT)3 or 4 times a day you would get a 4-5 page e-mail with everything.
When did the board actualy begin?

Well I signed up in 2000 when it was the old UBB board. Back when GlockCop was active. I miss that guy. I think he got married and moved here to Dallas.

I was there late 99, early 2000, when the board was a little more, ahem, lively.  All the fun Bavarian/Mick bickering with Ed.  And you think the moderator bashing is bad now?  Oh, and could we have had more Y2K posts?  Sure miss that.  Though I thought the old board was easier on the eyes, I sure like the feel of this one better now.

I sure do and I don't miss em at all.  I will never forget the first day I stumbled onto this place.

I love the pattern in the responses. Those that registered in Nov 2000, when the new board first went up, and those that registered in Jan 2001, when the old board died.

I signed up back around the time of the 2000 Presidential election.  Talk about an educating time to meet the folks here at AR15.com...

Glockcop still posts here occasionally under the handle "GlockcopLives".  It's my understanding that his marriage, and new wife have changed his life quite a bit in a very positive way.  I wish he had the time to post here more, really.  But hey - with a new wife some things tend to take priority....

I was on the mailing list in `97 - Rambo, Corey from Olympic, and a few others ring a bell.... Dropped off in Jan `98 when I switched jobs and didn't come back until last year. Thankfully, I missed the whole Y2K deal.

I received the mailing lists for a brief time.  Then semi visited the old board until about its last year of existance.  Played with the 'beta' version of this board and have been here ever since.

I came on about late 99 or early 2000, gotta see what shows up to the left though. Not much of a poster but I lurk regularly.
I remember Corey, I seem to remember personalities more than names, but Julius just came to mind...anyone know what happened to him?

Found this place back in 98? Maybe more 99ish. Lived through the Y2K (helped with the disinformation actually hehehe predicted the end of the world, oh well).

I miss Zen and his missle abode. I wish he would come back.

Fluffy was fun to a point.

Remember McUzi, when he wasn't that irratating.

Not that old, but old enough to remember the GD being much more wild & wooly.

Personally I thought you all were nuts, but good info.

I found this place right when the Fluffy story was breaking..."My cat Fluffy died."

I read the responses and thought "damn, what a bunch of calloused mean hearted a$$*@%es. Then I started to see the humor.

I signed on in Dec. 2000 after I got a computer at home. About a week, or 6 posts, later the site crashed. I found the beta sight and signed onto it in Jan. '01.

Y2K, Zen/Curio Bob, Drew/Glockcop were some fun times.

I remember the old board (2000) but that's as far back as I go. I work construction and found this board one winter when work was slow. I'd head to the library and surf the web for awhile to kill time.

The old board was....

Well it was fun. Can't say that the board isn't better nowadays though. It has come a long way.

BTW, this board is one of the biggest reasons I finally got internet access.

Not that I was cheap, just couldn't see the need for it.

Damn you people...

You remember Fluffy.

You remember ZEN and his sheep.

You remember McUzi, Glockcop, Drew, Ed Avila when he was actually around...

You may even remember that the first time SteyrAUG(damn, he wasn't even SteyrAUG back then) posted nudity, it caused the old boards forum software to crash.

Damn it, does no one remember me? I saved your collective shoppers asses dozens of time, and get zero recognition.

*snff*

You will all be sorry! ALL of you!

Joined the mailing list and old board in early 98. Browsed for quite a while, read, asked questions, researched, then made my first AR purchase in mid-99.

Even remember the old board had a newbie AR file that suggested building up your first ar--just buy the lower, then assemble the rest with a kit.

Glad I bought a complete Barney AR first, though now I think it's finally time to build my own.
