Can't believe what I'm reading on the AP wire.  What the heck are these lawyers thinking?

Attornies fees.

I haven't read the article, but I'm assuming they are suing for deprivation of rights under color of law (42 USC 1983).  A subsequent section (1988) allows the court to award attornies fees to the prevailing party as part of the costs.  Its all about money and billable hours.
