Certainly. "Pre Ban" and "Post Ban" apply to magazines or rifles seperately. You can use preban mags in a postban rifle, and postban mags in a preban rifle.
Preban or postban in rifles has nothing to do with the magazines you use with them - merely the fact that it can take a detachable box mag in the first place. That being said, look for all the preban mags you can (they don't have a date, S/N, or "LEO Only" stamp on them) before you get stuck with 5/10 round PC mags... It can help to have a maildrop or two! FFZ |

It is a felony for those who are not LEO's, Active Duty Military, and FFL's to even possess post-ban mags. They are often sold at gunshows to the unsuspecting. Be careful. All of the advice that say to put pre-ban mags into a post-ban rifle are correct. It is legal, under Federal law. Your state may have more restrictive laws. Check it out to be safe. |

beekeeper, I'm pretty sure he meant new manufacture 10 round mags, not new high capacity post-ban mags. Am I right?

Ah, you are probably correct. I forgot about those as I refuse to own them, and have seen exactly one--ever. I am a little touchy on this subject as I have a friend who is a Chiropractor Doc (with necessary State-issued license at risk) who bought two post-ban high-caps at a gun show and had no clue he was now a felon-in-waiting. As I have an FFL, I bought them from him and am waiting for a fellow Board member, who is an LEO, to buy them--legally--with a letter from his Dept. Instant felonies for sale--$13.00 each. Get 'em while they're hot! [pissed]
