I will be staying there over the weekend in a few week since I will be working at a Medical Conference at the hotel. I found it kind of amusing that when they emailed my confirmation letter, they included a dress code for everyone.



Now I've stayed at much nicer places like Ritz, Oriental, Four Season etc and didn't get notices like this. I guess since it is in WV, they worry that I'll show up in cut-off jean shorts and a NASCAR tank top in a $400 a night room BTW, I'll be in my suit anyways doing my sales thing to my doctors...



Dress at The Greenbrier

The Greenbrier enjoys the pleasure of hosting guests from all over the nation and the world. Throughout our history

of more than 200 years, many traditions have been established to make the visits of all our guests among their most

memorable experiences. The Greenbrier Dress Code is an important complement to the standards our guests expect

The following requirements are considered appropriate dress in our dining and entertainment venues at different

Morning – 6:30 pm:

Resort casual attire, including collared sport shirts, sweaters, jackets, dress slacks and walking shorts.

From 6:30 pm:

Business casual attire. Jacket suggested for gentlemen; dresses or evening suits for ladies.

Children 10 and older: Attire same as that of adults.



Main Dining Room

Breakfast:

Resort casual attire, including collared sport shirts, sweaters, jackets, dress slacks and walking shorts.

Dinner:

Jacket and tie required for men; dresses or evening suits for ladies.

Children 10 and older: Attire same as that of adults.



Draper’s, The Forum, Café Carleton,

Resort casual and appropriate pool attire is customary at Tree Tops Café.

Children 10 and older: Attire similar to that of adults.





The Casino Club at The Greenbrier (Adults Only – 21 years and older)

Morning to 7pm:

Resort casual attire, including collared sport shirts, sweaters, jackets, dress slacks and walking shorts.

From 7pm:

Business casual attire. Jacket required for gentlemen; dresses, evening suits, dress slacks, dress capris for ladies.



In-Fusion (Adults Only – 21 years and older)

Sports/Rec eational Activities



The Greenbrier Exercise Facilities:

Appropriate attire for exercise activity is permitted in these areas only.

Golf, Golf Academy and Tennis:

Collared sports shirts, golf and/or tennis sweaters, shirts or blouses, slacks, walking shorts, Bermuda shorts,

knickers, golf and/or tennis shorts (for tennis only). Shoes must have light colored soles for indoor tennis.

Children 10 and older: Attire same as that of adults.



Horseback Riding and Other Outdoor Activities:

Appropriate attire for the specific recreational activity is required. Jeans are considered appropriate only for horseback

riding, carriage rides, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, hunting preserve, Falconry Academy, gun club, The

Greenbrier Off-Road Driving School and at designated theme parties (group activities). Long pants or jeans are recommended

for horseback riding.



General Requirements

Robes and swimwear may not be worn outside of guest rooms with the exception of the swimming pools and spa.

The Greenbrier Dress Code must be strictly enforced to ensure the greater enjoyment of all guests. Locker rooms

are provided at both pools.

Be sure and tour the bunker!

It depends what you mean by 'nicer' ... I wouldn't say ritz or four seasons is nicer than the greenbrier.

The Homestead is the same way the wife and I go occasionally to both. I don't see what the big deal is. Both of them have been opening up to conferences that may bring in people who may not understand the dress codes.  If this was a conformation for a conference you are going to this may be the case.

They told me they completed an $8 million addition to the casino, it will be cool to check it out even though I don't really gamble.
