If you had a Time Machine and $100,000 in cash what would you do?
I would go back in time and buy Dell and Google stock. Oh, and kill Hitler. ETA: Quoted: Is this around trip type time machine? Yes, you get to come back. All Time Travel laws still apply though. |

Go back to the '60s and buy a buttload of M1 carbines from the CMP and put them in storage...
My dad still regales us with the tales of buying M1 carbines for like $17.50 shipped or something ridiculous. |

Back to 1985, buy Microsoft stock and load up on NFA. How many DIAS's could you get back then for $100k? |
|
can you go back in time prior to being born or does it have to be in your physical life time and you would be stuck at that age again?
|
|
Quoted: Back to 1985, buy Microsoft stock and load up on NFA. Yup. Apple Microsoft Google Yahoo Ebay Amazon I'd also buy a PSG-1 and go back to Mecca circa 600-ish AD.

Insert Office Space quote here. You all fail for letting the thread go this long without it.

make sure all your $$ is made before the date you want to travel too
that would make going back tooo far hurt your exchange rate :) |

100k will buy a lot of land in the 1700s. I'm thinking Southern Florida coastline (AKA swamp back then) with the plan to sell it piece by piece in the early 1900s, retaining a good chunk for the DangerJ Nature Preserve Swamp Buggy Snake Wrestling Alligator Sanctuary.
Then I'd come back here and get nailed with 300 years of property taxes. |

Oh, and kill Hitler. you guys thought of this? going back with todays dollar bills, unless you went back only a short period of time, you might not be able to use them. i guess you could buy gold (killer expensive but hey, all you got to do is go back, walk into a casino and make a few sports bets and you would soon recoop. heck if it was me thats what i'd do. go back to when the irs didnt get the info from vegas and make bets, cash in and buy gold. why do the stock market? thats too much work. |

How are you going to spend currency dated 2010 and that looks different in 1900?

Quoted: make sure all your $$ is made before the date you want to travel too that would make going back tooo far hurt your exchange rate :) Yeah, I have always thought about that. It makes the whole idea a little bit trickier. But i'd do the whole tech stock boom probably. Also go back and buy a lot of land cheap. |

I would go back to 1980 and invest in Sony, Reebok, Nike, Apple, Microsoft, Honda and Toyota.
Many of those were still in the Penny Stock market back then. |

Quoted: Oh, and kill Hitler. Great, so WW2 gets to be fought in the 1960's between the US and Russia w/ nukes on both sides.

Just go back a day or so and pick the winning lottery ticket for $1.
Invest Lotto winnings and blow the $99,999 on hookers. |

Murder Lincoln's momma while he was in the womb. WTF man? Anyway, I'd buy a few cars that I have always wanted and put them into storage. By some stock and have 60% of it sold on this date and have the bank call me on the phone at 4:30pm to let me know of the massive deposit. |
|
I would go back to the mid 1800 and buy about 800,000 acres of land the gov was selling for 12 cents an acre

go back to the 1600's and make sure slavery never makes it to the shores of this land. It was the start of a long running downfall. |

I'd go 1880 to 1910 or so, whenever gold was around $21 an ounce. Pick up around 4700 ounces of it, cash in around 5.7 million nowadays.

I'd go way forward and sell the cash to currency collectors.
Going back in time would be stupid, because your bills would have future dates. |

Quoted: See Rush on their "Signals" tour. Oh yeah, see Dokken as well. Signals was an amazing show. Saw Dokken in their prime as well. As far as the thread goes, yep... all the money into certain stocks.

Two words: Berkshire Hathaway.
In 1978 it was $175. Today its $124,510. |

Quoted: $100,000? I'd be my own grandpa, tell you what. This is the only correct answer. |
