DEVELOPING: Police have evacuated France’s Eiffel Tower Tuesday and the surrounding park area after a bomb alert, AFP reports.

A French police officer, who spoke to AFP on
the condition of anonymity, said the alert was sounded either after a
threat was phoned in or following the discovery of a suspicious package.

French citizens and foreign tourists
gathered in the tower area and Champ de Mars park were asked to stay on
the banks of the nearby Seine river while police investigate.

Hopefully nothing.

I heard something about it possibly being related to the French Senate outlawing the burka/face coverings in public.

Edit...Senate..not court.

PARIS – The French Senate has voted overwhelmingly for a bill banning the burqa-style Islamic veil everywhere from post offices to streets, in a final step toward a making it law.

The Senate voted 246 to 1 Tuesday in favor of the bill, which has already passed in the lower chamber, the National Assembly.

Any dissenters have 10 days to challenge the measure in the Constitutional Council watchdog, but that is considered unlikely

You must not read the news...France is taking the stand that our coutry doesnt have the balls to, and they are saying the things that need to be said.

Of course, certain socially protected groups will respond with violence to the implementation of common sense law & order.

And all the while, Obama will watch from a distance...trying to figure out an angle to sell his position.

The tower has survived two world wars, it would be afucking shame if was blown up by cry babies, over fucking scarves. How fucking stupid, it would cause a severe backlash in France against Muslims. I'm beginning to think muslims live to burn bridges they haven't crossed yet.

Well put....at least it seems that way to me a lot of the time.

Not that I'm pleased but isn't the Eiffel Tower more or less what you'd end up with if you bombed a building?

I think the plan is getting them to leave on their own.  No different than what we're trying to do in Arizona with the illegals, make it unpleasant enough and they'll migrate someplace more welcoming....probably California.

france. a weird country. sometimes they can be as tough as nails, and some times they can be the weakest pussified nation on earth..

they tend to get a bent a bit outta shape though about their culture, of which they are a bit too proud, but hey, if it helps put the mooslims in their place then its hard to find fault with them.
