Is the supplied optic with the 556 rifle any good?, or would I end up spending more money for an Aimpoint.

that thing is a POS, that being said I'd run it until I saved up for a T-1 Micro. I'd never trust my life with it.
You get what you pay for in the AR world.

I didn't like the red dot sight that came with the Sig.  It came off and a Triijicon Reflex sight took its place.  To put the Sig sight to good use; it went on a Browning Buckmark and works great.
