Just did a couple weeks ago. Only water resistant camera I have is an Olympus and I went on a canoe trip.
Mostly digital though, especially now that I have a DSLR |

I have lots of film cameras with excellent lenses
Use my Nikon digital SLR exclusively. Nobody develiops film anymore, and I only know 1 place to buy it. |

I have a lightly used Canon Rebel 2000 35mm camera, but I haven't used it since I got a digital camera. I just can't bring myself to throw it away, considering what I paid for it, but it's worth about as much as a disposable film camera nowadays.

Got rid of my last film camera in 2005 (a Nikon 2020 with a couple of lenses and strobe). Gave it to a friends kid who needed a film camera for school class.
Only have 2 point and shoots at this time. A Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7 and a Sony DSC-H1 Used to have my own closet darkroom and shot a asston of B&W. I can still recall hours and hours of time working in there, the smell of the chemicals and the muscle memory of all the steps involved in each process. Digital is convenient as hell but tweaking shit in Photoshop will never be the same as working a dodge tool or a burn in card to get just the result you're looking for.  |

I've got a 40 something year old Minolta SLR with a bunch of massive lenses.
 I also have a few digital cameras laying around. They aren't as good, but they work for most things... I just hate how fast they suck up batteries though.

I worked a lab around the same time. We sent that shit out. Our machines were clapped out shit at that point, but my understanding is that the boss ran 'em for another 7 years after that. Agfa machines... Must've been good stuff, we beat the crap out of 'em! |

I own several Canon A-1 bodies, with a number of lenses.
I bought one of them in 1980 when I was a teenager, and bought a second one years later because it is such an outstanding camera. I still occasionally use the original.

Yes. I still use an Olympus OM-1 35mm film camera to take long exposure astrophotography pics on slide film. Love the old school cameras you can open the shutter and leave it open for 45 minutes and then close it when you need it. Then all you have to do is scan the slide. Newer CCD cameras made just for such purposes now but they aren't cheap for good ones. I don't have any lenses for it so I couldn't take a regular picture without it being attached to a telescope.
The biggest drawback isn't the camera but rather the film nowdays. I have to send the slide film off to be developed in CO, but turn around is pretty quick. A lot of the appeal I admit is because very few still do it this way.

Noritsu machines sucked, and their techs were overpaid morons. I think by the mid-1990s everybody knew that film dev. was going to go the way of the buggy whip, so, nobody cared. I got out in 1996, sold all my stuff, incl,. the 35mm pro equip. I used for all manner of pro photography... The new owner who bought me out called me up a year later and offered to sell it all back to me for $5K. I laughed, hung up the phone and haven't talked to anybody in the photo biz in general since. |

I have a couple of old Nikon N6006 and N8008's. I also have my first camera, a Canon AE-1 and my dad's old Yashica-Mat camera that he handed down to me. I still have all my old photo gear too (bulk loader, film developing tank, etc. when I did black and white) - but I can't remember the last time I shot a piece of film.

Do yourself a favor; when you upgrade to digital skip the Olympus and go to Canon. I've never been so disappointed in picture quality as with my Olympus 1030SW. Canon makes a weatherproof point-and-shoot digicam now; both of my Canons have produced crystal-clear pictures, especially compared to my Olympus. To the OP: while I have a film camera, I rarely use it any more. |
