PORTLAND, Maine — The publisher of a Maine newspaper has apologized
for giving Page One coverage to the end of Ramadan on Sept. 11 without
mention of the ninth anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Saturday's
print edition of The Portland Press Herald featured a front-page photo
of Muslims praying at the end of the Muslim holy month.
It published
coverage of events marking the anniversary of the terrorist attacks the
next day.

Editor and publisher Richard Connor issued a front-page apology to readers who were offended.

Connor
says the celebration by 3,000 Muslims at the Portland Expo warranted
coverage. But he says the newspaper should have shown sensitivity
"toward the painful memories stirred by the anniversary of 9/11."

The deaths of 3000 Americans on that date warranted coverage.

With the help of the elitists and useful idiots in this country; the muslims have co-opted the date of 9/11 for their own purposes.

From reading the title I thought it was another one of those bullshit stories where the situation was the other way around: apologizing to the muslims because there was too much 9/11 material or something. Glad at least this time the apology is to real Americans, even though this never should have happened.
Never forget.

The Press Herald is only one well placed semi-colon better than that local low budget freak paper. Don't remember the name of it, but it's free and caters to the "three legged blind pre-op tranny ISO 7' tall asian hermaphrodite for evening of ball gags and shuffleboard" crowd.

I used to live 45 minutes south of Portland, and am not the least bit surprised.  The then-Chief of Police, Chitwood, told his officers that they were to arrest anyone open carrying handguns, even though it is legal under maine law.

Oh, and one of the 19 terrorists who hijacked a 9/11 plane boarded his initial flight at Portland International Jetport.

" Editor and publisher Richard Connor issued a front-page apology to readers who were offended. "

Probably due to all the subscription cancellations

More likely due to the ADVERTISING cancellations.

Doesn't surprise me that they did it, I am surprised that they apologized.  Probably more worried about losing subscriptions than actually trying to make up for the fuck up.

Chief Shitwood gone.  Good riddance.

I believe the hijacker mentioned stayed at the Comfort Inn right near the jetport.
