Wife and kids were in a village for a wedding over the weekend.

Wife said the 4yr old came into the house saying that a little boy was antagonizing her.
After our 4yr old went back out to play the 20yr old girl asks the wife "What does antagonizing mean?'

They then called our girl back in to tell the 20 yr old.

Now how the heck does a preschool 4yr old kid know what big words mean when a 20yr doesn't.

The four year old does not communicate by texting!  That is way too big a word for someone who is on the telephone texting and twittering all day!

The dumbification of the English language!

Yes she was and is. I am still quite infatuated with her. If I weren't so lazy I could see my self stalking her. I am, however, very lazy. She would have to call me at the end of the day and tell me every where she went and every thing she did. Sucks being this lazy, but.........fuck it, I'm tired of typing.

That or she's good looking enough that she doesn't need to know what big words mean.

George Orwell in 1948 wrote about a future world ruled by three socialist superpowers in 1984.  The socialist governments made people stupid by deleting words.  Double plus good was used instead of outstanding or excellent.

Now 20 year olds don't know what antagonizing means because they don't read.  They text.  And they aren't raised by parents who have a vocabulary either.

Probably talk to her like an adult rather than using baby talk.  That's what we've always done with our kids and people were constantly amazed that our 2-3 year old son or daughter (depending on which one at the time) said things exactly like the OP said.  We've always talked to them normally and they pick up on that.  They figure out what those words mean when you use them in context.  And, they'll use them in conversation.  Our kids can carry on conversations with adults just fine.

Exactally,
My 14 year old daughter, commented about my 2 year old Grand daughter, " She can carry on a conversation as good as some of my friends"

She correctlly uses words I can't spell, and recently discovered adjectives , and one of her favorite games is rhyming words. See I can't even spell rhyming

Public school education

Public school education is a joke even here in NY where our non inner city public schools are some of the best in the nation . I've met people with high school educations that don't know who George Washington was and who's only words in their vocabulary that are more than one syllable are not for polite company.

To be kinda fair a lot of the homes have only Yupik language spoken.
Teachers have to over come that plus the parents do not read or talk to the kids as adults.

Remember English is a foriegn lauguage that was just recently brought here.

Both my girls were singing songs complete at the age of 2.5 to 3 yrs of age.
Wife likes to sing gospel and play the piano so the girls have been exposed to a lot that villagers have not.
Plus we have a shit load of books.

Did you correct her and explain that it is "as well as some of my friends" not "as good as"?
