There is a great debate that has been ongoing since the early days of the Tea Party Rallies.

On one hand, people want immediate change. They feel betrayed by the Republican Party and how it has allowed RINO's to infiltrate it's ranks.

Many will immediately point their finger at John McCain. His soft, bi-partisan, flip flopping style has infuriated mass numbers of people.

He exemplifies what Americans are sick and tired of. Entrenched career politicians who will say anything to remain in power and then sell out their conservative base between election cycles.

The American People seem to signal that they are sick of this.

On the other hand, we have candidates that are true conservatives. They have worked their way up from unknown status to challengers in a very short period of time.

Many Americans feel that these people, people who have not been corrupted yet, Virgin politicians if you will, fresh from the Constitutional Conservative factory, are the only way to save us from certain disaster.

This brings us to the great debate and seeming a great point of absolute terror on both sides.

There is the camp that thinks we need to vote (R) no matter what, to get the Democrats out of power and then we can work from there to restore our freedoms and avoid financial suicide.

The opposing camp is tired of the bullshit. They vow to never again vote for the lesser of two evils. They maintain that voting for RINOS will only lead to more of the same.

What say you? I've personally been a part of this debate right here on this forum.

I know Arfcom is mostly a one issue voting bloc, but we seem to be mostly Conservative, followed by Constitutionalists, with a fair amount of libertarians mixed in, I'd like to hear more about this issue.

How do we as a fair representation of the Conservative voting bloc propose that we reverse the erosion of our liberties and pull the national debt gun out of our collective mouths?

Life long Republican here.  Have voted for Republicans that I detested just to avoid the alternative. I will not do it anymore.   Some don't get this, and think you should vote for the Lindsay Grahams of the world in order to avoid a Democrat victory.  After all that has happened; how can one still believe in this failed strategy?

in order of importance i vote for a constitutionalist who believes in COMPELTELY FREE MARKETS (not trade isolationism like most libertarians)

second i vote for a conservative who has no interest in talking about abortion or gays.  just sticks to reduction of government and taxes.

third i vote republican.

what i will never vote for is a democrat or for a third party unless there is a proven three way race and polling shows that the third party has a chance and is more into our founding than modern conservatism.  That never happens though.
primaries are the place to try and get good candidates.  general elections are where you vote for the lesser of two evils that can actually beat the other guy.

I'm gonna vote for the candidates who admit they're all in this for the power and money.

At least I'll be assured of being looked in the eye when they screw me, instead of being bent over like a $3 whore.

Yeah, that's where I am at: they are ALL full of shit and will screw us as soon as look at us. And they won't buy us dinner first. Or even bother with a reach around.

I'll probably never vote for a democrat again. Even the so-called conservative dems folded under the pressure and "deal cutting" from Obama, Pelosi or Reid.

Even my own congressional rep. folded to Obama's agenda. In '08 Ann Kirkpatrick ran as a conservative dem and won. She'll be removed in November.

We'll pay for these mistakes for many years.

Giving the dems a majority under Obama is the biggest mistake we as voters could ever make.

Simple:

1. In the primaries, support the candidates that best reflect your views.

2. In the general elections, vote for the only party that has a snowball's chance in hell of stopping the Dems.

In the general elections, you're not only voting for the candidate, but also for the unelected people who will follow from that vote - John Roberts or Elena Kagan; Samuel Alito or Sonya Sotomayor.

Easy answer: vote for thee candidate most likely to beat the Democrat.

Where possible, that  would be an unaffiliated conservative.

Where note, vote the lesser of two evils.

Anyone who says otherwise is a [D] shill.

Yes, Lindsey & Arlen & the other RINO's need tossed out. Do it in the primary.

Voting for a Perot to 'make a statement' gives us the likes of Clinton.

Don't whine, don't bitch, get involved and get involved early.

Simple.

This strategy seems to have been followed for several elections and yet if one were to look back over the past 100 years all they see is the continual degradation of freedom, the continual growth of ALL forms of government, and a disturbing increase in the number of people who just shun the whole system and ignore it.

It seems that in Genuine American fashion, the vast majority of us have ignored the REAL issues and ridiculed those who pointed them out to us, until we reached the point that our nation faces total chaos and the reversing of our standard of living.

I guess what I'm saying is that primaries and general election votes are not enough.

We need to actually look at the nuts and bolts of the problem, analyze those problems and figure out how to fix them.

Many people will point to education.

But how do we as Conservatives fight the unions, the entrenched bureaucracy that is the Dept. of Education, and rid our schools of liberal agendas without replacing it with overtly Republican or overly religious themes?

It would be far to idealistic and foolish to think that we can replace liberal bias with a truly NEUTRAL environment that encourages free thinking and personal responsibility, right? Those in power will always try to bend others to their agenda.

How then do we reverse the trend of selfishness, irresponsibility, entitlement, and looking to elected officials to regulate that which we don't agree with or condone?

It's not even worth explaining anymore.  I've made my stances quite clear around here.  Too many chest beaters who refuse to listen to reason.  Too many people who wouldn't vote for someone unless they shared 100% of the same views and nothing short.  Most around here seem to want to throw a vote away on a fringe candidate than to vote for someone who's 80% on board and has a chance of winning.  Unfortunately the left is galvanized.  They have a bunch of factions that all hate each other but will vote lock-step while "we" splinter off into little third party factions.

In short, the chess players already know and the checkers players can not be taught chess because they do not want to learn.

The two highlighted "Features" just mean you're not a Religious Conservative. Some people (like me) are fiscally conservative, but at least fairly socially Liberal. That doesn't mean I agree with everything (obviously I'm pro-gun, for example), but it seems that with the current party structure, I have to choose between fiscal irresponsibility with nominally Liberal social constructs, or (lip service given to) fiscal responsibility with overbearing social constraints.

Besides, I live in Detroit. It doesn't matter who I vote for, since the moonbats and the uneducated outweigh any vote I can cast. This is a One-Party town. Even if I voted for a Republican, it would be like voting for a third party, so I'll continue to vote my conscience, regardless of that candidate's chances of winning.

Where does the Constitution give the Federal Government the Power to Legislate Gay Marriage, Drugs, Abortion, or Medicine?

The Federal Government is explicitly given the Power to protect our borders and they choose to ignore them, while they waste time and money on things they are not even delegated power to legislate.

If anything Gay Marriage, Drugs, Abortion, and Medical Care should be decided by the States and people allowed to vote with their feet.

Federal Government overstepping it's powers and entering our personal lives is the reason we are in this mess in the first place.

Show me a giant smoking hole in our society and I'll show you failed government involvement and flawed policies.
