If there was no law against owning full autos, no tax, no registration, no forms, nothing not even state laws how many here would convert all or at least most of thier guns back to the originally planed capabilities of the firearm?

I wouldn't have to convert an assault rifle.

Assault is a behavior not a device.

Assault is almost always done by people from the political left.

You can shit in one hand and wish in the other, see wich one fills up faster.

But hypothetically, all of them.

I might consider an SBR and some suppressors, but I have no use for a full auto. Even if I did, I couldn't afford the ammo.

SKS wouldn't.

AK may or may not.

You really wouldn't if you could legally? I mean converting the guns if it was legal would cost next to nothing and having it doesn't mean you need to use it. I just can't see anyone turning down the capability.

I'd probably convert one of my ARs, and buy a 10-22 to convert.
Link Posted: 9/11/2010 9:27:40 PM EDT

A small percentage of my collection, strictly for defensive reasons. The rest would remain semi to save ammo and to save on firearm life.

Oh, and what is an assault rifle anyways?

If I am still buying my own ammo then screw full auto. OTOH every last one will have a suppressor though. Especially the Mosin.

ETA: didn't read the whole OP. I was thinking about a total NFA (Class III) repeal.

I might do one just to have it but its not as much fun when you have to buy your own ammo...

Oh yeah. I would need me some .22s.

I wonder what a FN MAG/240B would cost on the civilian market.

Meh... You'd have to get rid of the GCA of 1968 and the import ban of 89 to really get the effect you are looking for.

If the trifecta were repealed, I'd head down to Walmart and get a new MP5 and a couple of cases of 9mm. Why convert when you would be able to buy a whole machine gun at a fair price again?

US small arms developments would be lightyears ahead of the rest of the world.

about the same as a RR m16 does now if they sold for the same price the military gets them for IIRC

Need training and discipline. Availability of full auto would subconsciously make me lose focus on shot placement thus making me like third world idiots. If I had training and experience under pressure then sure. But I don't.

Since practically all full auto firearms have a semi- setting, I can't see why you wouldn't go FA with them all.  It's not like you're losing semi-auto capability.

No, it is just an unneeded option. If I did convert a firearm, I would want to get my money out of the cost of the conversion, thus shooting on full auto. If I don't ever plan on using it for full auto, why would I ever convert it in the first place. The reason to not convert it is to save ammo and to save on lifespan.

Select fire slide cover plates are cheap and 15 seconds to install and remove. No reason not to have one around without the NFA34 (or FOPA86.)

This.

As inexpensive as it might be to convert, it would add up quickly. Every auto loading rifle I bought after that would definitely have a giggle switch, though.

I would probably have one.  On the other hand, I would SBR/SBS or supress ALL of them.
