I had a lot of gin & tonics for a period of about a month with the Seagrams Extra Dry. It was amazing for a while, but I finally got bored of it.

it's cold gin time again..... Never heard of that. Of course this is the first time i have enjoyed Gin. Never like it when i was "Younger" but now i can't get enough. |

Tanqueray Ten and tonic.
Sapphire martinis. Seagram's and a diet cherry limeade from Sonic - Gin & Sonic™ |

Hendricks, tonic, lime. Hendricks, fuck yeah! Though I prefer a gimlet. |

Tonic and some Dry Fly I managed to bring back from Portland.

does anybody remember gilbey's gin in the frosted bottle?
good stuff... |
|
Not Seagrams if I can avoid it.
Bombay Sapphire for martinis, and beefeater or tanqueray for tonics, gimlets, etc. |
|
OH YEAH!
In fact, I just back home from picking up a new bottle. Bombay Sapphire gin and Schweppes Tonic Water! Nectar of the Gods! |
|
Quoted: You'll love it. Make sure that you get a diet, though. The bitterness of the aspartame sort of mimics the taste of tonic water. Non-diet isn't as good. I've researched this drink thoroughly over several years! Quoted: Tanqueray Ten and tonic. Sapphire martinis. Seagram's and a diet cherry limeade from Sonic - Gin & Sonic™ Fucking awesome! I've had cheap Gins, and I've had very tasteful gins - I can enjoy 'em all - EXCEPT for Tanqueray ... don't know why.

New Amsterdam or Hendricks while I'm still able to taste the quality. After about 4 doubles I switch to Barton.
As far as drinks fo I like gin and tonics or gin and grapefruit juice. |

Bombay Saphire. Neat. maybe sometimes an olive or two. +1 |

This thread makes me want to try some gin. Can you drink gin straight or on the rocks? (It seems like most don't) Would sprite suffice in lieu of tonic and lime?

Sometimes I'll toss in a couple of olives. Personally I don't use tonic but many of my friends do. It will be up to you. Gin is a VERY VERY acquired taste, I'd recommend buying a somewhat top shelf gin if you've never had it before because bad gin is nasty. |

I just picked up a bottle of Meijer brand cranberry soda, I'll have to try it with my Saphire I have in the fridge!

Sometime in 1981, I woke up at about 4:00am on a picnic table outside the rec center at Southern Illinois University (the one across the street from the towers). I still had a gallon bottle of gin in my hand. Oh, it was bad. I have not touched a drop since, and probably never will. |

I've seen a couple posters that are recommending New Amsterdam gin.
Not to knock other people's taste, but when this first showed up in my local mart, I picked up a bottle. Honestly, it is the only gin in 39 years I've poured down the drain. Did I get a bad bottle / bad batch? I've drank Gilbeys, Seagrams, Beefeaters, Tanquerary, Boodles, Bombay, and Bombay Sapphire in my day (and probably a couple others I can't remember), but DAMN, MAN, NA was simply undrinkable!!! Tell me I got a bad batch, please, and I'll try it again. ETA to add Hendricks as one I've had a couple times. Okay, but I'm not overly fond of cucumber. Interesting for a time, but not something I will keep on hand. |

I'll not buy it again. So you are not alone..... |

I have spent a great deal of time behind the bar and have sampled many bottles of gin. Citadelle gin is where it's at.
Never had anything better.... |
