Just finished up watching the newer Battlestar Galactica series, thought it was pretty good.   Thinking about starting Caprica next.

What else is decent to watch that was made in the past 10 years or so?   Only other series I've watched is Firefly.

Thanks.

More than 10 years old, but if you haven't watched Babylon 5, do it.

+1 Farscape.

You've seen Firefly. Farscape took me a little bit to get into (8-10  episodes), but then I really liked it a lot.

Everyone on is on track so far
Stargate (the movie)
Stargate SG-1 (10 seasons)
Stargate Atlantis (5 seasons)
(in that order  SG-1 and Atlantis overlapped at the end)
Farscape (4 seasons)
Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars

Babylon 5 (5 seasons)
That's enough to keep you busy for awhile.

Is this the same as Stargate Universe?   Or, is there not such a show?

Babylon 5 was the most epic sci-fi show of the 90's. It's worth getting into.

Stargate SG1 came first, then Stargate Atlantis, which ran side-by-side with SG1 for a few years.

Stargate Universe is a 2nd spin off.

Well, 3rd if you consider SG1 a spin-off from the 1994 Stargate movie

EDIT: didn't really answer the original question! SG1 is pretty good. Probably the most believable, it's essentially present-day US military vs. alien threats, and the only futuristic technology they use is what they scavenge or adapt from enemies over many years.

Farscape is epic, but it does take awhile to grow.

I saw it when it first hit the air and gave up after about 2 episodes thinking "Muppets in space".  Tried again when it came up on Sci-Fi and boy was I wrong.

Went utter batshit screaming insane at the end of "Bad Timing" thinking that it was a sick joke that they kill the series on that note.  Peacekeeper Wars was without a doubt one of the finest wrap ups to any series ever done.

Oh, to the OP suggest doing Farscape first, then SG-1.  It's more interesting to see Ben and Claudia together on SG-1 after you've seen them together in Farscape.

Terminator, The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

But have a woman handy, because you will want to fuck that little robot gal after every episode.

I may have to name the next kid "Conner" if this PT comes back positive.

I'll throw another in here that probably won't get much love... Andromeda.

It has its shortcomings but I enjoyed it.

Would however put it further down on the list to everything that's been mentioned in the thread so far.

Their meeting in SG1 was PERFECTLY anti-climactic, when she looks at Mitchell and says "I know we haven't met. That I'm sure I would remember."

And that's it.

Season 1 of SG-1 is kind of meh, but it gets much better. They had enough time to develop multi-season plot lines, and it is still my favorite show (even over Firefly). And when Atlantis begins in the story line you should watch them in parallel.

If you don't know if you want to invest in trying to watch the whole
series, at least watch the B5 movie "In the Beginning".  If you don't
like THAT, well there's no hope for you

And if you like to read, the B5 books are very good, I'd even have to say that you wouldn't have even needed to have seen the show to enjoy the books

yes the new stuff is surprisingly not British feeling.

B5 is a great series to watch, its one of the few that has an excellent well told solid story arc.

Farscape, SG1/Atlantis, are all worth a watch.

Also watch Atlantis, though it's not as good.

Those were Sci-Fi shows when the channel was 'Sci-Fi' not "SyFy".

Yeah, I'm watching it right now. I find the episode titles compelling.
I would put it a notch below Deep Space 9, and WAAAAAY below the likes of Firefly, B5, and Farscape, but it's still pretty okay.

And Trance Gemini is .

I literally sat stunned in front of the TV, screaming "WHAT THE FUCK!?!" at the top of my lungs for what seemed like a couple of minutes.  I still can't descibe the utter confusion that was going on in my head.

The fact that everyone involved said at the time there were no plans for anything beyond just added to the utter FAIL.

I did tear up over Peacekeeper Wars.  Sad to see it end but happy the way it did.
