And it wasn't bad!
Went to a Sushi Train style restaurant. I don't remember what all I had but it wasn't terrible. One of the things I had had wayyy too much cucumber in it that started to gross me out. Not sure if I'll go again. |
|
I like sushi, but I agree with the cucumber thing.
I usually just take the cucumber out and eat the rest with some soy sauce and wasabi, |

If you want some really good sushi in our 'hood, go to Eddoko off of 87th at ... um ... I can't remember. East of Pflumm. ETA: I much prefer cucumber over avocado. |

The first time I had sushi, I knew nothing about what I was ordering but picked some items from the menu that looked nice. When it arrived at the table, I looked it over and for some crazy unexplained reason I decided to pop the green dollop into my mouth. I quickly learned about wasabi.

You get to see Asian pimps bringing their hot-looking Asian prostitutes in.That's the place!! I'll check out Eddoko. I went today with some coworkers who guided my first sushi experience. |

I bought some sushi the other night, I took it home and fried it up, it was good. (Rimshot!)
Actually I am too germphobic to eat raw fish, sorry. I am even getting scared of raw veggies lately. |

I just has sushi for lunch. I love it... good sushi that is.... the best I've had though was in Hawaii... I could eat it almost every day. Here's what I had... http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x136/PAP63/sushi.jpg The best ahi tuna I have ever had was in Hawaii. Nobu in NYC has the best sushi I have eaten. Still want to go to Masa in NYC but dinner for one is $500 and that is without alcohol. |

Japanese food is disgusting. The worst "popular" cuisine in the world.

Tempura + yakitori + beer (or sake) FTMFW!
I do like sushi but I honestly enjoy the other stuff more. ETA: And I grew up in Hawaii (Oahu). Gimmie some Saimin! |
|
Eel is about the only sushi I don't love. I will eat it though. Sashimi is great and simple.
I like the artistry that trained chefs display. I often envy the bears that catch salmon. I could just take a big old bite right out of the side of a salmon or tuna, zombie style, right this second. |

You want something really awesome?
Try lightly seared tataki (tuna) with ponzu, ginger, and a touch of wasabi, with rice and boiled sweet carrots. Drop-dead AWESOME. CJ |
|
I''ll quote Terry Bradshaw, "down here we call that stuff bait".
Now some good raw oysters, ok. |

CJ I made a ribeye tataki not too long ago with buckwheat soba noodles and a home made ginger ponzu. Soo good. The inside of the beef never made it past 80 degrees. |
|
I don't get it. Most sushi I've had is just good to use as a sponge for soy sauce and wasabi.

I love me some sushi. Depends on the place, but some are great, some ok, and some are meh will not go back.

I really enjoy Sushi, but I am picky about where I eat. The place I really like is really expensive, but the quality of the Sushi is by far the best I have ever had. I ate some Sushi in Galveston last year and it was wonderful. I will eat pretty much anything but squid and urchin.

Tako, Unagi, Ebi, all are favorites of mine. Toro is good too.
I like the Tako Sashimi

I've been to some places where the wasabi isn't very hot and to others where it will burn you out of your chair.... trust me, what you see on the plate in the picture was plenty hot... I could only put a little of it in my soy sauce. It will definitely clear the sinuses! |
