Don't know which is the best, but I have a Burris behind an Aimpoint that I am happy with.

Why not just get a Leupold CQT? I know it's 1x3 but Length, weight, and cost will be about the same or less and you won't be fumbling with two seperate optical devices on your rifle.

I'm pretty happy with my Primary Arms one.

A buddy had one at a class and I tried it out.  My criticism:

I don't like the quality of the illumination.

No unlimited eye relief in 1x

Not parallax-free in 1X

Can't really mount an NVD behind it (not an issue for everyone, admittedly).

It wasn't terrible, but I vastly preferred a T-1 with a magnifier.

I looked through the leupold back when it came out and it didn't suit my needs at all.  I have an Eotech because I like the open field of view, a 1moa dot for precision, and it's just about as fast as you can get with target aquisition. My son has the Strikefire on his, and likes it a lot. He can pick up on the 4moa dot very quickly, and doesn't look for precision beyond about 300yds. He can hit a torso sized target  every time out to 300 and most of the time with his Spikes 5.56 M4, (80%) out to 400, but he needs a little help at five right now, ( 50%)  . With my hand loads ( 6.8spc II 90gr tnt at 2950fps) I can get 7 inch 5 shot groups prone with the Eotech, ( that same load got me .433 best 5 shot group at 100 and 3 others under .500, one at .590 with the scope). I had to sell my scope a while back and I'm looking for something to compliment the two optics that we have. I will be putting them in Larue fts mounts. My main need for it is load development. and to feel better about shots over 300 on deer or coyotes. I don't think the quality of the glass is so much better on the aimpoint or eotech brand to be worht the extra cash. I've looked at and handled them and the Burris, and they seem to be similar. I don't know about the cheaper ones. The other thing is the overall quality, where the price is worth it, but I think the Burris is very close. I just haven't had an opportunity ato see how decent the lower cost ones like Primary and others are. So anyone with experience good or bad with these let me know.
Thanks guys.

i checked a while back and they didn't at that time. I'm looking for at least 3 and hopefully higher power if possible.

I'd go Vortex.  I recently got a Strikefire and I'm very happy with it.  I'm sure their 3x magnifier is just as nice.

Larue no longer has the po boy.  I have a couple of the Burris triplers in Larue mounts behind Aimpoint comp ML3 and like them very much.

I went through this exercise and concluded at the time that by the time you buy the magnifier and the flip to side mount you might as well pony up for the Eotech package that includes the mount.  I looked everywhere and found one on ebay for a good price.  Very happy with that package by the way.

Get the VMX3 as the other clone magnifiers have poor eye relief.

By "poor", do you mean too long or too shot eye relief?
Link Posted: 9/8/2010 8:01:39 AM EDT
[#24]
All the clones that I've tried - Mako, Primary Arms, and Burris - have very short eye relief. It's almost unusable so you can't even get a full sight picture. The VMX3 has decent eye relief although still not as good as the AimPoint magnifier.

VMX3 eye relief is 50mm
Primary arms Deluxe 3x is 1.5 in.
Eotech is 1.97 inches
Mako 5x is 1.66 inches and the 3X is also 1.66
TMS is 1.75 inches, never heard of them. Airsoft maybe?

Aimpoint advertises "at 5° FOV 40 – 90 mm at full FOV 60 – 65 mm", so that's about 2.4".

EDIT: Can't you just move them back a little on the rail, or is there not enough room?
Link Posted: 9/8/2010 2:15:37 PM EDT
[#27]
It's not the position on the rail but the sight picture when you put your eye behind it.  Remember that you lose some eye relief since you have eye pro.
I'd encourage anyone to stack them side-by-side and you'll see what I mean.

does anyone have experience with these behind an Eotech?
Link Posted: 9/10/2010 8:06:29 PM EDT

I scoured the EE for a Po Boy. Love it behind the Aimpoint but haven't tried it with the Eotech.  There's a reason they often go for original price or more. Solid mount and great glass (ie Zeiss).

Some of the similar ones were up to 4X I think.
