I sat for 2 evenings on a fresh cut maize field. I got one dove. The only one in range. I saw a few others. I wondering where they all are.

I was hunting near Wagoner. I'm hoping it gets better quick. I'm ready to shoot.

Honestly, I was loading my 870 as fast as I could. At one point we had a cloud doing a nice circle above us....

Total Chaos!!!  With four people.  Good times!!

It was slow south of Dallas. I got about half a dozen all weekend.

I found 15 birds that I shot between Friday and Saturday in central Texas.  Could have had twice that many if my dog could get over being scared of the shotgun and find my birds for me.

Best year in a while.  Limit on Wed and 13 more on Thursday and Sunday.  Hunted over a freshly sewn wheat field with a pond.  Hasn't rained in 2 months.

I haven't been yet.  This tropical storm heading my way is going to screw things up royal for the birds though.  I should have gone.

I would shoot a cap gun whenever my dog would eat.  Over a few days I would move closer until I was right next to her.  Now she drools when I shoot around her.

It was really good for me. Went on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday,Sunday and Monday along with 3 other guys. We all hit limit everyday......

This year is the first year in forever that Arizona has allowed the daily hunting hours to go past Noon. This year we can go from Sunrise to Sunset. Very healthy population and plenty of birds flying.

I fired through 7 boxes Saturday, and only got 2.  Ok, it was the first time I went dove hunting and I was not leading enough.

Still it was fun, except for my stiff black and blue shoulder.

with all the rain we've had, the birds don't have to congregate around a few tanks.
that's always bad for the hunters.

They didn't fly AT ALL where I went until about 5:30 pm.  Many folks got frustrated and went home.

Then huge flocks of them started taking off to roost.  They'd been sitting out in the corn field all day long.   I had groups of 10 to 15 flying over at a time.  The shooting got good until about 7 pm.

I got 9 on Saturday and 4 yesterday.

I haven't been in years! My old spot now has a million dollar house sitting in the middle of it!

We still have a few farmers who will open up their field and let you hunt for about $20 to $25.  Used to be $5 to $10 many years ago.

But yeah, lots of the good places are now so close to houses, you can't hunt them.  I really prefer a wild millet field to corn field.

Worst opener ever. Went to a public spot in central IL where we normally limit in a couple hours. The flowers were the size of silver dollars and full of weeds. Three of us shot two birds between the 12-5 shooting time. The next few nights were in the low 50s and our local birds moved out.
