I carry a S&W mod. 65 with a 4" barrel.
Glock 17.
It's what I've got. My first choice would be a Glock 20 or a 44 or 357 wheel gun. |
I usually just carry my Glock 36 everywhere I go. I do have a 3" Ruger GP100 for that purpose, but I haven't picked up a good holster for it yet.
Nothing. I will carry a knife for bushcraft, but don't see the need to have a pistol on me. I rarely carry a firearm on me, unless I am hunting.
S&W Model 329, with handloaded Barnes XPB bullets (lead-free, but not by choice).
depends on where I'm camping....and who I'm camping with.
Sometimes a Ruger MkII......sometimes a FNH 5.7.......sometimes a Hk USP Tactial .45. Long gun is a Mossberg 590A1. |

XDm 45 and a Ruger MK III 22 for small game and animal predators
Used to be a 4 inch S&W 686, loved that gun but got a great deal on it and traded it up. Now it's my Glock 23 and occasionally the Ruger MKIII 22/45 in conjunction.

Carried the g17 yesterday while hiking and collecting wild hucklberries.
I was wearing waterproof boots and my feet were SOAKED from the undergrowth dripping down into my shins/socks. Fucking NW. |
1911.
I think its plenty to piss off a bear enough so that he'll have no question as to if he is going to kill me or not. |

They don't f*ck with you if you don't f*ck with them though. There is nothing to be scared of in the wilderness. The only time I go deep into the woods is when I am hunting anyways. |

4" 629 with 240gr JHP's.
I switch over to 200gr Speer Gold Dots in .44special when around civilization. |
Beretta 96 .40 s&w with 15 rounds of Speer Gold Dot. I love this gun

I mostly carry a handgun for encounters with people. I've seen a few sick animals, but none that I ever had to shoot. Everyone is extremely concerned about bears, I'm not (Keep camp clean and chances are you'll be G2G.) If I was, I'd carry bear guard, not a 45ACP. |
Glock 30 when I'm local. I carry my Ruger Redhawk in .44mag when I'm in big bear country which is at least one or two times a year.

I'm not scared of the black bears I might encounter. I'm scared of blind ass moose.

1911, its big enough and loud enough so that anything it doesn't kill will still re-evaluate any further actions.

But this year we actually had one walk through our campsite at O-dark-thirty in the Boundary Waters. Black bear you can bluff, or scream, or throw rocks at, and probably turn'em away. Moose, well, they're just 1200 lbs of mean with antlers, and blind to boot. |

Depends on where I am. If I am somewhere there might be bears, I carry the biggest-bore handgun I own, a Kimber 45. If I am more worried about humans, I carry a Glock 19.

My EDC is a Glock 17, but when I'm hiking or camping, I carry an 870.
