I have these wierd little finger like deals under my tongue, they stick out and get caught in my lower teeth all the time. Theres two of them, one on each side. They're no thicker than a pencil lead, and maybe 3mm long. Like a skin tag, but obviously not a skin tag.
Well one of them is all swollen and I can't eat without it annoying me now. It keeps getting rubbed and irritated. What are these things? I'm about to get the finger nail clippers out and have some DIY surgery. Edit: I did it, I snipped one off with the finger nail clippers, it hurt. It hurt REAL bad while I was basically pinching it off, and then nothing, just a lot of bleeding. Here are a couple side views of it on my tongue: 
And here are a few pics of it next to a .22 shell for size referance. I think it shrunk a little because it's cold after it came out of my mouth.

It sounds like normal anatomy, since they are on both sides of your tongue(as opposed to "warts" or oral cancer). If they are irritating you, go to a dentist or oral surgeon and have them removed.
They do sound like "skin tags" though, and should not be a problem to remove, but the vascularity(blood supply) of the tags needs to be determined. |

I've done my own stitches in the past but I don't think I would go cutting off pieces of skin under my tongue.

I get those too, right on the end of my tongue. I cut them off with a nail clipper cause they feel like a raw nerve so I cut them off and they feel way better.
