Final takes: You can quote me on thisBy Matt Hinton I've made a lot of predictions over the last month, about every team in every conference in the country, many of which I frankly can't even remember. Many, even after diligent research and charts and maybe some rudimentary math, still amount to educated guesses cobbled together with a random strain of fatigued logic. But if for whatever reason you feel it necessary to hold my feet to fire about anything I've said about the 2010 season when the calendar hits December, there are only a handful I'm willing to risk looking like an idiot for on the eve of the first Saturday kickoff, before the actual muscle and sweat grinds the offseason logic into irrelevant dust: • Tide will fall. In general, the odds advise against projecting pretty much any specific team to run the table to a perfect season, no matter how dominant it happens to look on paper. That goes double in a season that appears ripe for chaos, where there is no dominant team on paper. And it goes triple for an outfit that's already flouted the odds over the course of a frequently harrowing, 24-game regular-season win streak. For lack of an obvious successor, Alabama opens the season where it ended the last one, as the consensus No. 1 in every major poll. But down nine starters, six draft picks and three All-Americans from the nation's best defense – not just the core but almost the entire group responsible for a 12-0 regular season in 2008 and the perfect, 14-0 run to the BCS championship last year – and now facing some uncertainty surrounding two of its best players, if ever an undisputed frontrunner has been vulnerable to an unexpected lump or two, 'Bama is it. *Snip* • Ohio State will play for the BCS championship. The Buckeyes are the most experienced of the major title contenders by a wide margin, and the only one that comes into the season without a glaring negative lying in wait to kneecap their championship hopes at some random point in the season. As glaring positives go, an MVP effort in January's Rose Bowl could go down as the turning point for quarterback Terrelle Pryor, now 23 starts into a career that should begin to catch up to the hype in year three. That triumph was the Buckeyes' third straight over a top-10 opponent, following regular-season wins over Penn State and Iowa to lock up the Big Ten title, after six straight, high-profile flops against top-10 teams beginning with the 2006 BCS Championship Game. This is a very different cast from the one that endured serial traumas against the Gators, Tigers and Trojans, and given how quickly it came together when the sky seemed to be falling last November, it seems to be made of the stuff to finally finish the job. Deal with it, America. I didn't say it, but I like it. |

It's not like he went real far out on a limb with those predictions..... |

If Ohio St was in the Big 12 or SEC, there is no way in the hell they'd go undefeated, not a chance.
In fact, OSU is going to lose to Miami. |
|
To early to call.
That article is like those polling reports that come out before the end of an election. Injuries and other factors will play into the games. But you guys ever think how huge a paycut he is going to have to take when he goes into the NFL from OSU? Every freshman from the hood can afford a brand new vette. |

Well they can lose 5 games and still have a chance to play it. There's so much bias against the SEC who ever loses the Ala-Fla game will drop of of the top 20, yet either would still destroy OU, and yet OU is Rated #2 at the start of the season Really what have they done in the last 4 bowl games?
Beat Oregon -Oooooh the Powerhouse ducks Loss to Texas - Ass whooping Loss to LSU - Ass whooping Loss to Gators - Ass whooping All the gay love for the OU makes me sick. Hope Miami makes a mockery of them next week. |

You asked a bucknut who has historically dominate the series and they will we are 8-2 the last ten years! How about the previous 50 years? Hmm. How convient. Also over 400 self reported secondary recruiting violations? Are fucking kidding me? USC looks like monks compared the the crap that goes on in the shithole called Columbus. |

I love it how Pryor looks like crap all year, and has one good game against a highly over-rated Oregon and all of a sudden he is a Heisman front runner. Then he plays yesterday against Marshal and looks like the same ol' over rated bum he's been for the past couple years. |

You guys are on drugs if you think it's always gonna be like this (OSU beating Michigan). Just don't expect us to be so gracious when the annual whooping by Michigan starts happening again. |

Yes, and they'll come in right behind Alabama...with an SEC team swatting them away like a fly.

I think it will be Ohio State vs Boise State in the BCS Championship game.
Florida's got a new QB, they'll lose at least once to someone other than Alabama Alabama might have issues at running back, they too will lose to an underdog sometime during the season Texas is also with a new QB, and they showed some chinks in the armor with that game against Nebraska last year. TCU could also be in the mix. Now, that being said, I might be eating some tasty crow come Tuesday morning! |

A cream puff schedule and no conference championship is an easy ticket to get there. |

Arkansas = nat. champ. All these Yankees will blow a gasket if that happens. If a SEC team wins 5 in row the Big Ten might quit playing football altogether. Heard their bowling and table tennis programs are pretty stong though. |

The same ones who pick them every year..and they lose. Team loyalty usually causes blindness to reality. You don't know who is going to win unless your team has proven it could win or if you have Tim Tebow as quarterback.
Alabama is returning everybody who counts, but they may get bumped off by a hungrier SEC team. There are 4 teams in the SEC that can beat OSU tomorrow morning..that is reality. Without playing tougher teams, they become over-rated as usual and if they get a shot, it will might be against Oklahoma or some other soft scheduled conference team around the country. Boise State? They are good but not great, but they could be playing against whoever in the BCS and win it. But if OSU has to play any SEC team..it is over. They will lose. The SEC is faster and more skilled than most conferences..thats the truth. This pre-season hype does not help your team get better..it only makes you feel better about their chances. But as usual, they will get blown out of a title game just because they are Ohio State.I wish my Gators could play them every year just for the morale boost it gives the team and fans. |

Just to add to this. 91 of the top espn high school 150 preps are from the Southeast. Now a good portion of the rest are probably from Texas & California. How many does that leave from Big Ten area? All we have to do is keep Big 10 recruiters out of the South. |

love how all these michigan fans are all butt-hurt over having a crappy coach and an even worse team. You want to talk about records, what was Carr s final win loose against ohio state? Now GTFO, get a real coach, recruit some good players that won't transfer to Arkansas, and give us a challenge at the end of the season.
