I drink primarily whiskey.

Generally Marker's Mark, Knob Creek, JD, Crown Royal, or Wiser's Deluxe (if I'm on a budget) on the rocks.

Give me some "classy" drink recipes. They don't have to use whiskey as a base. Not a bunch of sugary fruit shit, no Jägermeister, and no sizzurp.

Martinis are welcome, but hoping for some other stuff.

Experiment with your favorite bourbons and whiskeys with some sour mix. Some combos can be pretty good with sour mix and maybe some fruit. Not all man drinks have to taste like gasoline.

Yeah, nothing says sophisticated like bottom shelf booze.

Good Bourbon or Scotch Whisky...a glass...maybe a light splash of water or an ice cube.

That's sophisticated.

A French 75 is a favorite of mine. The syrup isn't flavored so I hope thats ok. GO LIGHT ON SYRUP. I think 1 oz is too much.

2 oz. Gin
1 oz. simple syrup (or 2 tsp. superfine sugar)
1 oz. lemon juice
Brut Champagne or other dry sparkling wine

It's called a French 75 after the French 75mm howitzer in WWI. It has a reputation for hitting hard, just like the gun.

Incidentally the french 75 was so hard hitting because it fired very rapidly. It had a hydro-pneumatic recoil system meaning it stayed in place at the bas and didn't have to be re-aimed to fire again.

"Godfather".  2 parts scotch, 1 part amaretto.  On the rocks.  Good stiff sipping drink.  The amaretto adds some sweetness, but it definitely still tastes like scotch.  You can vary the amaretto to taste also.  I think it's good as a scotch on the rocks with a splash of amaretto, but it's pretty harsh that way unless you really like scotch, and/or have a good bottle.  Cheaper scotch would work well with more amaretto :P

Caipirinha

 • 5.0 cl (1⅔ fl oz) cachaça

 • ½ Lime cut into 4 wedges (or tahiti lime, but not green lemon)

 • 2 teaspoons crystal or refined sugar

Place lime and sugar into old fashioned glass and muddle (mash the two ingredients together using a muddler or a wooden spoon). Fill the glass with crushed ice and add the Cachaça.[2]

Martinis are welcome, but hoping for some other stuff.
Drinks that actually fit what you asked for instead of soda and liquor:

Real Martini:  2 oz Tanqueray (The normal kind, no hypens or non traditional varients.), 1 oz Cinzano Dry Vermouth (Do not substitute Martini & Rossi), Drop or two of Fee Brothers Orange Bitters (strictly optional),

Can be shaken or stirred with ice.  Pour after very cold into Martini glass making sure all ice is left behind in the shaker.  Add 1 pimento stuffed olive, preferrebably packed in vermouth.

Manhatten:  2 oz Sazerac Rye Whiskey, 1 oz Cinzano Sweet (red) Vermouth, drop or two (no more) Angastora Bitters.  Stir with ice until cold.  (Do not shake.)  Pour after very cold into Martini glass making sure all ice is left behind in shaker.

Cherry is optional.  If cherries are used, recommend brandied cherries and not maraschino.

Yes I believe there is.  I forget what it is though- I used to tend bar too :/  Drinks that are made with scotch whiskey can usually be done with other sorts of whiskeys, and I'd give it a try.   I bet it's good too, especially if you like bourbon.

Manhattan = whiskey + sweet vermouth + agnostura bitters + optional maraschino cherry

Rob Roy = scotch + sweet vermouth (optionally, dry vermouth)

Gin & Tonic = well, duh.

I don't know what its called but I like it.  Drambuie + soda water + lime juice = win, especially if you like scotch.

Vulcan Mind Meld. (a vodka martini)

3 parts citrus vodka (Absolut Citron is pretty good for this)
1 part Grand Marnier
dash of dry vermouth

Fill a martini shaker with ice, add vodka and Grand Marnier.
Shake at least 30 times or at least until the outside of the shaker ices over.

Pour slowly into a glass over a pearl onion or stuffed olive, run dry vermouth around the rim or give a dash into the glass.

Mike's G&T

Bombay Sapphire Gin & Schweppes Tonic Water

Start with an old-fashioned glass.  Mine is crystal from Crate & Barrel and holds 18 ounces.
Fill glass completely with a purchased crushed ice.  Avoid using smaller chunks of ice.
Pour Bombay Sapphire Gin into glass to 1/2 way mark.
Fill to brim with Schweppes.

Do NOT use lime.  Do NOT substitute any other brand for the Schweppes.  Tanqueray and Beefeaters are both acceptable if not quite as good.

Enjoy.

No.  My recipe is a martini.  You have been drinking straight gin.

You can't get a good Martini at a bar.  They use Martini & Rossi and it is usually old because people learned to order Martini's by watching TV.  Martini & Rossi, especially stale & old, taste like fish.  It's horrible.  Cinzano Vermouth is very good and gives a Martini a crisp, dry snap.

This goes in Martini's
