I opted for the SATA III SSD 128GB / SATA II HDD 1TB combo, (FREAKING fast loading times!)
i7 930 @ stock clock for now.
A70 heatsink
Asus prem MOBO
Gskill DDR3
Obsidian 800D case
SSD 128gb
HDD 1tb
GTX 280
SATA II optical drive
Windows home 64bit
750w PSU

This think is a CHAMP.

Cheap system that I built after a friend decided to build one, then wussied out.  (he gave me the urge to build another one)

I'm proud of that wiring job, and the overclock on it.  AMD Phenom II X2 555 @ 3.9Ghz.

Just set the multiplier to extra high, then lowered it slowly till it was stable.  I originally got that processor in hopes that it would unlock all 4 cores, but it didn't.  My luck sucks.

Not since 2001 and Im still running my last build  , 2 years ago I made 2 upgrades to it a vid card and a new HD , the HD crashed hard this week . so back on the old 2001 era HD lol

Never built the one I wanted to , I wanted to build a custom case that looked like a spider with all the wiring coming out the back like the web . mocked it with cardboard and got every thing to fit but never built the case.

Asus P6T mobo

Corsair 750TX PSU
Intel i7 920 (stock)
OCZ 1600mhz 6gb RAM
WD Caviar black 600G HDD
HP dvd drive
Sony cd drive (reused)
Xion case (reused)
Win7 64bit

Runs every game I've tried at max settings with plenty of room for overclocking. Probably going to get another 5850 to Crossfire for the hell of it

Cooler Master ATCS 840

Core i7 920 at 3.8 Ghz - cannot get stable above that thanks to C0 stepping - requires too much VCORE.  Plans to upgrade to an i7 930 soon.

EVGA X-58

6GB Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D

XFX HD 5870 water cooled to 1Ghz

6 hard disk drives - mostly Samsung Spinpoint F1's and a few WD Blacks - 4.45TB, 705GB free

Creative X-Fi

Logitech G15 version 2 and G9 gaming mouse

I need a PC or hackintosh for some heavy-duty video editing. Think these are a good start?

XCLIO 1000 Black / Silver 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case $175
No other case has room for up to 12 drives total
EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard $260
Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601930 $290
3X G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL ~$300

Still haven't decided on the graphics card, sound card, PSU, RAID card, or hard drive setup yet, but good golly are SAS 6.0Gbps drives expensive! I've got to have $$$ enough for the LTO-4, RED Rocket card, and a good display! Not to mention CS5 and BR burner.

I'm the same way. My desktop currently sits in a 4u server case.

I use to really be into the custom stuff when I was younger. I remember making my own direct water to die cooling block for an old pentium 3. Back then you used heater cores from cars as their really wasn't any custom radiators for computers then. The market was very young. Also remember using car neon lights because they were 12 volt and using window molding when you cut windows in the cases.

I'm running at 49C at idle (4GHz overclock).

Prime95 gets it up to around 90C after it's been running a while. Ambient room temps are a bit high, though. At stock i7 speeds (2.8GHZ), it's running around 30C at idle.

Thing is, I don't really trust software reported temps as far as I can throw 'em...but there ya go.

I'm using my dad's build from 2003. I have since replaced the video card and memory, as the memory was fried in a power surge and the video card allows me to hook up my 24'' high definition flat screen TV to the computer. I use the TV as both a computer monitor and as a TV. Mostly as a computer monitor.
