So I opened the garage door the other day and this little guy walks in as if to say "it's about time dude". He kinda hopped around as if he owns the place. I know that this is a possum but how do I dispatch the thing?

ETA: gf saw this post and laughed and said "you don't realize it but he's still in the garage" and he says "all your insects are belong to me" (she actually witnessed him taking out a horsefly)

I shot a possum with a CZ550 .308 from about 6 feet away once. It worked.

I like to shoot them with .45 acp 230 TAP or XTP from close range simply for the carnage

I've had less than stellar results with M855 from a 16" 1/7 barrel. Not big enough for decent expansion. Hornady 147g 9mm TAP rounds were very effective with good shot placement. A suppressed .22 was the worst. Damn thing just wouldn't die. It took a couple head shots to finally kill it.

Hey he is eating all the bugs and keeping them away, maybe he could stay around for a while. Ask him how much he could pay for rent and if he would split the cable bill

Absolutely.. Iv'e got a few of them that go in and out of the basement..

Also have "daddy long leggers" that I find in the house occasionally. I let them be as well as the "skeeter eaters" (not surewhat they are called, but they are pretty big and eat misquitos.

Toads are great insect eaters. One slow night at work in the Arizona desert those things were all over the place gobbling up bugs. I hand fed a toad around twenty June bugs to the point he was about to burst. I used to pick them up and put them in paper bags and bring them home with me to put in my walled in yard and let them loose to keep the bug population down.
