An "Englification" of Μολὼν λαβέ. "Come and take them" is a close literal translation IIRC.
|
|
It means "come and get them" or "come and take them". It's the famous words that the Spartans yelled out to the Persians, when the Persians demanded they drop their weapons and surrender.
That is where the phrase comes from. |

molon labe ejection port door, just ordered one for myself! |

If you got the balls to do it. |

FWIW A Greek friend (native Greek speaker) of mine said it's ancient Greek so it doesn't really translate correctly into modern Greek. |

Roughly translated, most scholars agree it means, "Fuck you, I'm an anteater."

Supposedly it is what the Spartans yelled back to the Persians when they told them to lay down their weapons. Translated it means "Come and take them" / "Come and get them". You can see if referenced in the translated quote in the movie "300"
A little surprised no one has inserted the "Son I disappoint" pic yet! |
