My wife and I are expecting our first child
within the next few weeks. We Do NOT know if it
is a boy or girl. Our problem is selecting a name. We do have a name selected for a boy.
However, we are still kicking around names for
a little girl. I want something patriotic and
very American. Perhaps a tribute to Sept. 11th.
Your help would be appreciated.

I'll try to think of a girl's name for you – and one for your daughter, too!

Hope everythings works out fine for all three of you – whatever your names are!

Go to Google and type in " Girls Names"---got 990,000 hits!!!

Don't you have any family members that you wish to honor by naming her after?

Actually, my personal favorite's Jennifer. Not too many mean names you can make from that (i.e. Elizabeth=Lizard Breath, Natalie=Gnatalie, Margaret=Maggot).

My father used to say this: "With boys you only need to worry about one penis; with a girl you have to worry about ten thousand."

Of course, I would suggest a Germanic name:

Lorelei

It's pronounced 'Lo-ruh-lye'!

It happens to be the name of my daughter. I picked out the name for my future daughter when I was about nine years old, after reading it in an old poem by Heinrich Heine.

Isabelle

Arianna

My wife like Lydia the best, although that is the name of a former flame of mine.  I like Arianna, but then that Arianna Huffington chick gets on my nerves.  Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

Liberty is a BADASS name for a young lady.

Beautiful.

Our second kiddo will be here soon too.  First pregnancy for my wife - our son is from my previous marriage.  She's having labor induced on 04/17!

Good luck with your new addition - God bless!

First,
Go to an adult video store (or online site) and look up all the popular pornstar names.  Then, AVOID THOSE LIKE THE PLAGUE.  Maybe this says more about me, but I can't tell you the number of girls I know named Ashley Nicole, Brittany, Lauren, etc.  You get the picture.

Personally, I named my daughters Sophia and Lola.  I was careful to avoid the "name of the year" fad.  Every year there seems to be five REALLY POPULAR names that every kid seems to have.

The method my wife and I used was pretty simple.  She would constantly write down a list of what she liked.  I had veto power, so I would cross out the names I hated and circle the ones I liked.  After a few months, we eliminated THOUSANDS until I was happy.

Good Luck.

How many syllables are in your last name and what's the first letter?

I like to choose names that roll off the tongue well.
