Chico Ranch Worker Dies Trying To Shoot Squirrels
Branch Apparently Fell On Man's Head, Officials Say

CHICO, Calif. –– A Chico ranch worker died Monday when a branch apparently fell on his head after he shot at squirrels, according to the Butte County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the 7000 block of Cana Highway at about 12:30 p.m. on a report of a "possible coroner's case."

Joaquin Medina, a worker at the ranch, was found dead.

The Sheriff's Office said Medina was apparently shooting at squirrels and hit a large tree branch with a shotgun round.

The branch apparently broke, deputies said, and hit Medina on the head, causing head trauma.

It's unknown if Medina was taken to a hospital, but officials said the trauma led to his death.

what

They think he could have been taken to a hospital and then returned to the scene where he got hit after he died?

Jesus, must've been a helluva branch. Maybe he was lucid immediately after the TBI and he went about his business, then the swelling did him in later.

I wonder what kind of load he was using that would take the branch down. Buckshot?
