"Victim who was shot by pickup thieves dies

A man shot in the stomach as he chased thieves who had stolen his pickup from his driveway died about two hours later in Ben Taub Hospital.

Alfonzo Harris, 27, was in his house in the 6300 block of Torreon around 8 p.m. Wednesday when he heard the engine to his truck start.

He went outside and saw two white or Hispanic males stealing his vehicle.

A Hispanic female with a baby drove away in a white, older-model Chevrolet Suburban and crashed into another car.

When Harris caught up to the thieves, he was shot, and the woman and baby left with the gunmen in the pickup."
