Sorry to hear that. Just remember, YOU are the only one that can change your situation. I was broke 6 years ago. I decided to devote ALL of my time to making money. I did just about anything within reason to earn cash. At the same time my wife and I went on a strict budget and didn't spend on anything that wasn't necessary. I finally found my niche and now we are on easy street. My point is that you CAN do it. Just make up your mind and don't let yourself get side tracked. Most people stay broke because they don't live right.
I'm not saying was easy. Just trying to inspire you! Good Luck. |

Similar situation for me yesterday as well. My clothes dryer went tits up and had to buy a new one. I was contemplating a new .44, but this purchase ended that. To pour salt in the wound, the appliance store shares a parking lot with the gun store. [:(]

So you had to sacrifice some stopping power to ensure that you have adequate stopping power.
That's a shame, but at least you live in a state where you can be reasonably sure of being able to get your AR back, or another one like it, when your finances are looking up. Here in Californistan I'd sell the family jewels (no, not THOSE jewels) before I'd sell any firearm. |

Man, is the DFW job situation still so crappy? It's really started to pick up again in Houston. Maybe you moved to the wrong part of Texas Necro. Dallasites aren't real Texans anyway. They all think they're too good for the rest of the state. Besides, Houston has the most & the finest topless bar's in the country...

My ABS went out on my blazer due to a simple connector break. The wire broke off the connector. The Dealer said it's $250 just to replace a simple connector (it's all one housing). I asked if they could just resolder the wire back onto the connector. They said that would fix it but that's illegal for them to do that - needs to be replaced since it's a safety feature. For over a month I drove without ABS and it worked just like standard brakes. Later while having other work done at a different repair shop and they found the disconnect and resoldered it back - no charge - without even asking. |

Mine has a different problem. It thinks that I am skidding all the time and pumps my brakes when I do sudden stops.

At one time I owned over 100 guns, and over a couple year period I had to liquadate the whole lot, my stupidity.
I am now buying again and I hope to never have to sale another again. BTW Pawn shops are the worst place to sell a gun to, pawn it if you have too, but don't sell it there. Troll it at a gun show or sell it online here. I hope they didn't rape you too badly. But I have had to sell to the pawns myself. Hope you have bbetter luck soon. |

Nah. I sold my Glock17 there and they gave me $450 for it. I bought that for $485 and put about 500rds thru it. This was an ASA post ban kit AR that I had. Built it from scratch except for the upper. However, I still had the same car payment and credit card bills as I had in CA. After having been unemployed for 5mos. that cleaned out the savings too and maxed out credit cards. Its was just a bad decision on my part to jump at the chance to leave CA and not consider the consequences of the paycut. Believe me I have cut back quite a bit. I eat at home 5-7 days a week for dinner, as opposed to when I was in CA where I always ate out. I don't date anymore, not by choice, but TX womenz are repulsed by me. Which I guess is good since I'm broke. I don't go out every weekend anymore. Whereas when I was in CA I use to party at least 2X a week. I seem to eat a lot of SPAM and Top Ramen noodles these days. I bring lunch in about 2-3X a week, and I don't buy/eat breakfast. Basically a nite and day change of lifestyle from CA to TX. For the worse at that. |

LT, I ran a search at hotjobs.com for Houston jobs under the term "trader" & got this opening w/ E-Trade:
As a 7/63 licensed and knowledgeable broker, a complete understanding of the securities and banking industry is required. Computer literacy including familiarity with online services, PC skills, and touch screen technologies are integral to this position as well as a BA/BS preferably in business administration, marketing, finance, or a related field. Try the search yourself. Maybe it's up your alley, I don't know. Haven't checked Monster.com or headhunter.net yet - got a good interview lead through headhunter yesterday. Just trying to help. You should look into Houston, Corpus, or Austin. Texas coastal womenz are more laid back than the snooty Dallasites. Not to mention that our wonderful brown water might help w/ the Cali. homesickness. |
