The fetching Mrs. garandman and I like to take weekend-ers, and USAir is being generous with their E-savers, so.....

Alot of their E-savers go to Toronto, out of local airports. For $140 a round trip per person, we can get up to Toronto.

Is there anything there worth seeing???

If you are into sports there is the skydome. And the Air Canada Centre.

Theatre?

Well MamaMia ( a tribute to ABBA) is on with GREAT reviews.

There is the CN Tower.....tallest Freestanding Structure in the world ( the one in Kuala has a taller antennae)

Museums.....

The Science Center..

Oh and the best of the best......I am only an hour away!!!!  Could you beat that!!

Just don't count on me taking you to church!!  But I could pick you up at the airport and give you a lift downtown....

I agree with all of the above.  In addition, Niagara Falls is about 1 1/2 hours away by rental car----if you have never seen it----it's awesome!

as long as you stay on the Canadian side.
Niagara Falls NY is pretty crappy, in part thanks to NY's insane taxes

I'd probably choose Montreal over Toronto, but both cities have great public transit and are pretty easy to get around.

MONTREAL!!!

Ummmm YEUCH!!!

Even we Canadians try to avoid that place!!  To many french types with attitudes from hell!

As for the Stormbringer Pub crawl idea.....I'm game!!

Oh with regard to Niagara Falls...they also have GREAT wineries with tours on the way there......if you love wine ( good wine) like I do it is well worth a weekend tour.

Montreal has great night clubs, easy women, and blowjobs are more common then a french kiss. Makes heaches for me but Americans love it.

As for TO... well there is the CN tower... I don't hink there is much more.[:D]

A couple of other people and I went there last Memorial Day.  We flew to Buffalo on Southwest and rented a car then drove to Toronto.

- The Brass Rail on Yonge St. is a nice place to spend the afternoon, but I should wanr you that the protocol is a bit different than what is normal for us Yanks.

- The restaurant in the CN tower has some decent food and the view is nice.  That glass floor on the lower section freaked me out though.

- If you like sports:
-- The Hockey Hall of Fame was excellent.
-- The Air Canada Center and the Sky Dome both have cheap tours available that take you all through the back areas.  It was cool to walk onto the outfield in the Sky Dome and see what it is like from the field.

- Don't worry about the weather in Toronto. The downtown area has a large tunnel system that connects pretty much everything.

- If you have a car and a couple of days to kill, Ottawa is several hours away but is a very nice town.  Even though I was really up there for the Hockey Hall of Fame I enjoyed Ottawa more than I did Toronto.  You can tour their Capital Building and marvel at the lack of security.  There's a nice downtown area.  There's a very nice casino across the river in Hull.

Both Ottowa and Toronto were a lot of fun with very good restaurants, good bars, and friendly people.

Edited to add that while the falls are neat to look at, it only takes a short time to see them and everything else in the area is a pile tourist infested of shit.  But that's just my opinion.

Toronto has
-a reasonable efficient bus/subway system
-a disturbingly high percentage of Liberal voters
-King Sol Outdoor Stores (stop by & help 'em out - a year or two ago, one of the owners got dinged for allegedly trying to export thousands of M1 Garands to the US marked as 'tool parts')
-A Silent Scope machine at Pearson airport
-a handgun vendor/range north of town - united sports shooting center IIRC(?)
-the CN tower & skydome
-HQ for Newcon Optik nightvision
-a remarkable increase in handgun crime
-an interesting electronics and component surplus store on ?Queen St - Aactive Surplus(?)
-The consensus among Winnipeggers seems to be that nobody goes to Toronto unless they have to.  Send a postcard and order the King Sol catalog & you'll have the experience in a nutshell.
