was orginal elite model about three maybe four years old. It was prolly its time. heard today that back then the failure rate for those was something like 58%.

call microsoft. send it in to get repaired and shipped for free. if it's past the three year warrant ask to speak to the higher ups until they agree to fix it for free.

I feel for you. I got the RROD about 6 months ago. Don't do the self fix, it's temporary, and will void your warranty. I won my X-Box in a drawing while I was leaving Iraq the last time, so I didn't have a warranty. Cost me $75 to get it fixed, and it took about a week and a half. Well worth it.

We've had the RROD 2 times and a video error that wouldn't clear. Took it into Best Buy and walked out with a brand new replacement each time. (extended warranty certainly paid off and they carried the warranty over on each of the new ones)
We ended up buying a cooling fan that attaches to the back and no issues for over a year now. Between my 19 year old and 14 year old that thing gets some serious use. |

I have had 3 RROD's and the newer system got RROD faster then the older ones. MS sent me an older system as a replacement. FU MS!!!!! POS!!!!! If it wasnt for MW2 I wouldnt own this POS system.

Mine did this last year. Send it into their repair facility and they'll have it back to you in a week or two. My repair was free, even though it was out of warranty by at least a year or two.
Forget the wrap-it-in-a-blanket temporary fixes. |
