I absolutely love Rush...

However, at this point...

They seem like an enormously talented band...

In search of a reason for existence.

I am a huge Rush fan, and well, this just does not do it for me.  Love the bass in it, just not doing it for me, though.

Snakes & Arrows was really bad, this seems like S&A Part 2.

Everything else they did was fucking awesome though.

For Snakes n Arrows I was at first, meh. But the more I listened, the better it became. And now after putting it down for awhile, then revisiting it, I believe it to be an excellent album.

Im sure alot of Rush fans want to hear something like Hemispheres again. I would too! Im just glad they are still making music. They are the scotch of music! You love em or hate em and they are an acquired taste.

Did Geddy's testicles ever descend?
Only band whose Greatest hits was a one sided single....

Despite Hemispheres coming out in 78 and me discovering it about 15 years later, it was by far one of the most profound and meaningful albums of my youth.

One thing I noticed about the new tracks is Geddy isn't anywhere near his old vocal range. I've heard the recent live shows where it's evident his voice is completely shot. Sucks, but I think it's OK if he wants to bring it down an octave or two. I know Geddy's singing is an acquired taste, and it turns a lot of people off to the band. I wonder if his studio vocals are pitch corrected though.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Seriously though, while they have some decent radio hits, their amazing stuff has never gotten radio play since they tend to be of epic length - 10-20 minutes.

Rush is coming to Dallas in the fall and no one wants to go with me. I'd like to see them live. Can't find any rush fans..

This is funny, Cygnus X-1 Book II started just as I was reading this thread.

The second one sounds at least better than most of the Snakes and Arrows stuff.  Later Rush songs are often mediocre sounding, until you hear them live.  Thanks for the links.

<–––––– first saw Rush at age 10 and has loved them ever since.

Gee, Neil bashing religion again, and Geddy trying to cram as many lyrics into one song as possible.  I'm shocked!

Seriously, the drums and bass lack anything innovative.  Alex has really been shining in recent years, however.

They should ditch Nick R. and get a real producer like Bob Rock or Rick Rubin.
