The MX line of GeForce cards have always been the ones you get if you can't afford the Ti line.  I'm going to hold out for a Ti 4200, if they ever get released.  In general, the GeForce cards are good for 3D, such as in gaming.  The 440MX should be decent if you can't afford one of the Ti cards, but if you can hold out, the Ti 4200 should be in the $199 range, and should perform quite well!

Real Geforce 4 4600 ti's, don't get anything less than 128 megs, are still going for $348.00 on Price watch, $252.00 for the 4400.

Look into the ATI Radeon 8500, has 90% the speed of a similar Geforce 4 about half the price. And the Radeon allows dual monitor/tv support, the Ge4's TV outs are still only one monitor at a time. When the Geforce 5's come out, the price of the Geforce 4's will drop drastically.
