Why should I have to pay for my own dental work. Why should I face financial ruin because I need 1000's of dollars worth of dental work. Its only fair. Having dental insurance is a right, not a privilege. We should tax the evil rich white men to pay for it too.

This is true.  Buddy of mine got snake bit about six months after having all his rotten teeth pulled.  Doc told him if he still had those teeth he'd have been a goner.

Rotten teeth take a big toll on your body.

Exactly. Plus it makes the Obama voter shelters cheaper to run since all they can eat is pudding.

Because dental insurance is not insurance.  The cap is set so low, typically $1000-1500 dollars a year, that many, many people max out their "insurance".  Also major procedures, such as crowns or root canals, either max out the insurance instantly or are covered at a low percentage.  Basically you are paying a middle man to pay a percentage of your dental care. Dental insurance is a completely different animal than medical insurance, so there is no reason to combine them.

The dental insurance I was offered when I retired cost about $200 a year.   About what it was worth so I self-insured.    Not a complaint, just saying I was at best trading dollars.   A LOT of people expect it to "pay off" in that you get more in services than you pay in premiums.   I'd rather be charged a fair price for services that has nothing to do with the those who don't pay.

Ironically, the American Dental Association and the Americans with Disabilities Act have the same acronym.

It is the ADA vs. the ADA.
