The old ones were made in America and held up just fine. In fact, they would wear down to the nubs over time, never shedding a wire.

The newer chinesechinkoleum ones suck.

Even the big ones do that.  I was helping out in a body shop once using a big air grinder with a big wire brush attached.  9" I think but it's been 20+ years...  Anyways, I was wearing safety glasses but not a face shield and a wire broke loose from the wheel and stuck straight into my chin.  That was sure fun pulling it out!

Good profanity, but overall a little awkward.

Why are you walking barefoot in an area which you use your tools in?

You can slow the destruction down by using lower rpms. It won't cure it but at least you can use them.

My 20,000 rpm unloaded die grinder will destroy a wire wheel in no time. My Snap-On Wire wheels are only rated for 5000 rpm. The die grinder can be adjusted to slow it down.

That's what's so INSIDIOUS about the bristles on a wire brush, they stick to one's cloths and fall off everywhere, almost like some kind of landmine delivery system! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/sauer/angry-smiley-043.gif

The bigger ones do it somewhat too,but the small ones you don't notice...until you step on it or it sticks you somewheres, like an arm? oh that is fun hunting it out of a shirt or sweatshirt! hell I've found it INSIDE my boots!!

And no MS paint, there's no blood to speak of,just huge amounts of pain!

......
............
Could make a hell of a weapon, drop a bomb with billions of those small, sharp as fuck wires all over an enemy http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/sauer/angry-smiley-015.gif

Well the kitchen is equipped with at least one heat treat oven, two parts washers, built in tool boxes/shelves, somewhat of a cryo setup, a knife drawer (sweet), and a surface plate if you're real fancy.  Not to mention the kitchen has HVAC and a cooking untensil, the microwave.

ETA-
Who the fuck decided that should be a woman's place?

No I work outside if it's warm,a shed I use as a workshop if it's cold,I even make sure to dust myself when I'm done....but it never fails a few days or so later I'm walking along or sitting down doing something and the next thing I'm hopping about and screaming like a witchdoctor casting a spell!

A really top-notch rant would have also included some mention of the fact that most Dremel tools aren't reversible - which means that after a wire brush takes a set in one direction, there's no easy way to un-set it.

Probably Dremel's way of forcing customers to buy more wire brushes...

hahahaha

I knew the problem before I opened the thread

True story:  doing dremel work on a model one time.  Had a bologna sammich lying on the desk.  One of the bristles found it's way into the sammich and I drove the wee little thing up into my gums after taking a bite

It was like my whole head got electrified at once

I should mention even at low speeds the fucking things fly apart, how do I know? simple I decided to try it at slower RPM's to see if I could get them to hold together better...then I got into a tight spot so I lifted the face shield, and promptly got a bristle stuck in my cheek!

FUCK!FUCK!FUCK!FUCK!

I've had to tweeze some of those little wires out of my feet a few times. They always wind up buried all the way in so you have to peel back the top layer of skin to even get a grip on them.

It might help if you quit using them inside the house.
