Really sweet looking house.  If it was in NYS, you'd get raped from the property taxes.

Excellent!  What part of VA you in?  I need to get out of the condo I'm in now, too small, no space for a workbench and tools.

congrats, and it looks good.

I know you posted in the other thread that it was due to the insanely high cost.  But I do not know if I could willingly build attached to other neighbors.

Why would you put tile on the wall and hang the door sideways?

Time to call Mike Holmes.

On the plus side, you'll save some on heating and cooling (fewer exterior walls).

On the down side, if your neighbors suck, you're right next to them.

Ok....that is a beautiful "house"

but it appears that your "house" is connected to another "house"

Is this a condo or duplex? either way if it is No VA I am sure it is very expensive. I dont even want to know what your taxes are.

Very true, on the upside, we have an end unit so only neighbors on one side. Plus there is a 12" wall between us and we met, they are pretty cool. NO KIDS!!!!!!!!

Also, thank you to everyone who said the house and lady are beautiful. We are in Leesburg, VA. However; not in the city the house is next to a 700 acre nature preserve so building should stay to a minimum.

There is this magical line south of PA, where, once you cross it, all the houses are stuck together, and three stories tall. My buddy lives in Clifton, in a townhouse. I love it, but, even at 45, my knees are fucking shot. If it has an elevator, I guess it would be cool. But I only have a few more years till replacement time.

It's not a condo, research condo vs. townhouse. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!! I'm actually from CT and I'm shocked you would think it's more expensive here. Well, I guess it really depends on where in CT and where in VA. This part of VA is insane. Then again, taxes at my parents place in CT aren't cheap either.

Here is the link to a discussion about income. I'm well into 6 figures and she is about 10K shy of that mark. We actually did all the financing through me to take advantage of VA stuff. Just glad that if one of us loses a job, we can still afford the house. That was kind of the plan from the beginning.

Oddly enough I thought about that. Good news is I could block off the first floor leaving us with access to the Kitchen (main floor) and the bedrooms upstairs. The only thing that would be lost is the freezer chest that is going in the garage. I guess I could just block off the rec room on the first floor and punch a hole in the wall to the garage.

Black spray paint on the lower windows will work fine

Yes, although the pole wouldn't be necessary because it is only a 4 foot drop. The room is on the landing of the stairs. It's the pic where I'm crouched down. The top of that room is the floor of our closet.

not too familiar with townhouses, sorry to offend you

fairfield county is disgusting for taxes, my parents pay 10K for their house in monroe. I live in Wolcott, and pay 1/3 of that, but then again my house is half the size and land is about half also.

No, I was just sharing my happiness with Arfcom. If I said I got a new job and crossed the 50K mark would it come across as showing off? Everyone has different milestones. As soon as I get my first paycheck I will be joining the team. I will also be updating my NRA membership to "life member"

No offense taken. It's a common mistake. Condo's have insurance much like apartments it goes into a community pool of money to pay for damage. TH you have home owners insurance. Condo's you either have upstairs or downstairs neighbors. We own all three floors plus the land (if there is any). Condo you only own the interior of the house, none of the land. We are in Loudoun county which is one county west of Fairfax. Taxes here are pretty high compared to the national average. I think Fairfax is a bit more expensive because you are just that much closer to D.C.

Sweet. We will host a BBQ and everyone is welcome. We looked at single family homes in Purcellville with 5+ acres, but a 20 yr old house for 400K+ was not what we were looking for. Nice area though.
