Do they have Federal truancy officers nowadays?  Are they that hardcore?

Is anyone else troubled by the Department of Education's "need" for short-barreled shotguns?  Is it really for the children?

A search for "shotguns" turned up four of the six or so threads.

Here's they're reasoning why they need them:

Thank you for your
inquiry. The Office of Inspector General is the law enforcement arm of
the U.S. Department of Education and is responsible for the detection of
waste, fraud, abuse, and other criminal activity involving Federal
education funds, programs, and operations. As such, OIG operates with
full statutory law enforcement authority, which includes conducting
search warrants, making arrests, and carrying firearms. The acquisition
of these firearms is necessary to replace older and mechanically
malfunctioning firearms, and in compliance with Federal procurement
requirements. More information on the OIG and our law enforcement
authority is available on our Web site at: www.ed.gov/oig.

Not really, given what their purpose for having such is....

Since we don't have one single, consolidated federal LE agency, you end up with departmental IG offices having LE powers, and similar....

Think about it.  Would you expect to find 87,000 threads if you searched "shotguns" on ARFCOM?  How many threads would you expect to have if you searched "Department of Education" in the title?

Fuck me.

I'm going to go back in my corner now and drool upon myself.
