So, my Texas buddies -
Do you think the Texas jury wimped out??? [}:D] Or is it all them danged Northerners who moved into Texas that messed things up???? [;D] Exactly how many living breathing children does one have to kill to merit the death penalty? Susan Smith (here in SC) started with two. Andrea yates saw her two, and raised her three more. How many of you will wager there will be 6+ in the NEXT mass killing? I mean once you kill off a million+ a year healthy children, what's really the big deal??? This is a sick world we live in. |

To impose the death penalty here in Texas, the jury has to answer UNANIMOUSLY two questions:
1) Is the defendant a future danger to others? 2) Are there any mitigating circumstances against executing the defendant? They answered no to the first one, therefore didn't even have to answer the second one. I guess since she doesn't have any more kids to brutally drown, she's not a future danger? Whatever. I wonder if she'll get her own cell with free cableTV? I've heard that inmates don't take well to pedophiles or baby killers in prison. Maybe there'll be justice for Texas after all? -Gloftoe p.s. Anyone think that we'd even be having this discussion if the FATHER had drowned his kids? (not to stir up a hornets' nest or anything) |

There are plenty of white guys on death row here in Texas. Death row statistics (executed prisoners) by race in Texas: black - 88 white - 134 hispanic - 38 other - 2 (edit) Furthermore: Death row statistics (awaiting execution) by race in Texas: black - 188 white - 150 hispanic - 109 other - 4 Looks like a pretty round ratio to me. Texas does kill black offenders, right along side the white guys, the hispanics, and the "others". Doesn't really matter what race you are. It matters what crime (atrocity) you commit. Fact of the matter is, with automatic appeals and all, it actually costs more to put someone on Death Row than keep them in prison to the end of their natural lives.

Rather than life in prison, I'd just as soon that they broadcasted her name, address, and a picture, then just released her. I'm sure that justice would be swift in coming.
