The wife just got off the phone with her sister who is a produce manager for one of the large grocery stores down here in Fl.
It seems they had a meeting in which they were informed the natives may be getting a bit restless. It seems that there are certain food items that can no longer be purchased on the " welfare" cards... what ever name they give them. Some of the changes are No whole milk.. only 2%, no "White" potatoes, no pre-made deep fried foods... there were some others, i was too busy laughing to get ALL the details. Wonder how all those welfare leeches are gonna like this administration in another month. Seems the government feels there are too many foods that are unhealthy and they will decide what the leeches get to buy... and eat. How long before the riots? She said the mandate came down from the state, but it was just a transfer of a new federal directive. Gotta LOVE this shit..LOL, |
In like flynn...
Its gonna get real interesting once the native realized this is for their own good...like it or not |
Living on the dole should mean you're not living high on the hog.
it should be potato flakes, dried milk, and government cheese.
better get the amber lamps on standby. Its the first of the month
Quoted: it should be soon to expire MREs. potato flakes, dried milk, and government cheese. And no, I'm not joking. |
So, I'm guessing cigarettes and booze are off the list, too, then...

Allow me to add: Bacon - it's a privilege, not a right, dammit.
Which means more for us. |

Just wait and see how it is when healthcare is a .gov program. "no one on gov healthcare can have bacon"

They sell the groceries for 50 cents on the dollar....then buy what they want with the cash.
My friend that manages a Kroger has wittnessed this first hand....two people that dont know each other shopping together....one pays for the groceries with the "card"...they go to the car and load up.....the other pays the card holder and leaves....card holder comes in buys beer and smokes..... |
Make damned certain that they know Obama is behind this.
Just like the loss of funding for inner city kids to go to charter schools. There was a big campaign to get school choice back. I wrote them and said that when they stopped making voting decisions that screwed up MY life, I'd help them with their problems. |

Great news.
They should also adjust allowed food amounts based on BMI. Morbidly obese? So sorry, fewer soylent green chips for you this month. |
I used to wonder in college why they got to buy steak and oreos while I was buying ramen noodles and 99 cent packs of hot dogs.

So, I'm guessing cigarettes and booze are off the list, too, then... Well every time I see one of those "cards" come out... the cigs and booze get paid for in cash. So i don't think they could buy them with the card in the first place. I may be wrong but I know nothing of leech protocol. |
The sad thing is, those who work in the stores who have to tell the people "no" will take the brunt of abuse.
No white potatoes?
What about black beans? Friggin racist law! |

Why it gotta be the white potatoes I have no clue what that even means, I tried to clarify it with the wife, but she got no further clarification from her sister... just "white" potatoes.. Don't know if that means they can buy the ones with red skin or if it means they have to buy yams?? |

I can only imagine what it's going to be like for a while. I would dread going in to work.

You guys that are saying this is good thing are as bad as the anti's. I don't like the welfare system either but forget about where the money comes from for a moment. Why should the government be able to tell anyone what they can and can't eat? That's just like them telling us that we can only have gun X or gun Y and not gun Z. I know I didn't like it when Clinton did it, but some people in this country thought it was a great idea. This is the exact same, like it or not. The government telling anyone what they should/shouldn't be able to eat is absolute horseshit! They need to GTFO of our business and let us live our lives.

Let me know when they remove all meats except hamburger, turkey, chicken... no more prime rib, filet mignon, shrimp, lobster, crab...

When the .gov gives me money to buy guns I will have no remorse in having the .gov tell me what guns to buy. Face it, it is our money and "WE" should tell them what they can and can't buy. When you take .gov money, you play by the .gov rules |

Why should the government be able to tell anyone what they can and can't eat? . What? Is the government giving you a "Free Gun Card" paid for with taxpayer dollars? WE are paying for that food, WE get to say what they get to buy. Or at least we should. |

Quoted: Seems the government feels there are too many foods that are unhealthy and they will decide what the leeches get to buy... and eat. How long before the riots? I have no problem with this... If the .gov (you & I) is buying, then they get to dictate what is purchased.. You guys would blow a fucking gasket seeing what I see... ALL junk food, pop, candy bars, chips.... then the other side of the spectrum.. Shrimp, T-bones, NY strips, Crab legs... (I'm not kidding here) oh, I forgot.. Redbull energy drinks too.. Monsters are not covered.. but they can get the redbull ones |
Rifleguy I agree you do have a point but this is a slippery slope. Maybe this time it's welfare recipients, but what happens if they pass healthcare and start fining anyone that eats meat or whatever else "they" deem inappropriate. It could just as easily be us next time. Government control is still government control IMO.

Out here the Amish buy the food stamps for pennies on the dollar––and use them themselves –– OR buy the commodities the Indians peddle....the Amish have a grocery store that's at least partially stocked with suspect merchandise........ |
