I went with the family to Panera for lunch yesterday after church. As we were walking back to our cars, I happened to notice that the Girl Scouts occupied a strategic position in the shopping plaza - within a few yards of a Weight Watchers.

That actually seems tacky. I would avoid their stand just for that as I'm sure most others were.

Yes, the Girl Scouts sent their evil minions to my house only yesterday to subvert me with 3 boxes of Thin Mints. And so, two 11-yr.-olds have completely derailed my nutrition strategy with nothing but smiles and unassuming green boxes.

Worst part is, I have two young daughters who will probably become Scouts in a few years.....can you say, "lifetime supply of thin mints"!

Back when I was in Boy Scouts, we used to sell popcorn, which was the tradition at the time.

We broke tradition, and started selling Sees Candy Bars for $1.00 each. The milk chocolate and the milk chocolate with almonds. Oooh, man, the one with almonds was amazing.

We made a lot more money that way. And, lets be honest...the popcorn sucked, anwyay.

I was duped by a troop a couple of weeks ago.  I bought what I thought were Tagalongs and Samoas...

When I got home, I read them carefully...I had bought Peanut Butter Patties and Caramel DeLites...

I was like WTF!?!?!?

A little google and wiki combined showed me that there are actually 2 bakeries licenses to make GS Cookies.  One of them makes Samoas...and the other calls the same cookie Caramel DeLites.  This would normally be OK with me, but THEY DON"T TASTE THE SAME!!!

I will never fall for that crap again.

Yeah, the popcorn sucks.  I just buy some and tell them to keep the popcorn.

It's a fundraiser, man. They're not trying to compete with Nabisco, or anything.

Isn't that the truth...  I can wipe out a box of those things in about a half hour, all the while trying to get control of myself.

+1

Two weeks ago, while headed to The Range for some proficiency practice, I saw some Girl Scouts and their Moms selling some Girl Scout Cookies.  I didn't exactly have the money to spare, but I still bought 4 boxes of their yummy cookies.

This weekend I saw some other Girl Scouts set up a table inside of a rather busy shopping mall.  They were all out of the cookies I love to nom nom nom nom nom nom.

As a father who has a daughter in girl scouts let me tell all you people......... if you really work at it you can get tired of girl scout cookies. It takes some work and dedication but it can be done. I owe my daughter about $50.00 so far ( I have been afraid to ask her how much I owe her lately).

Keep heart it can be done where you can look at those innocent little faces and their tables of cookies, smile nicely at them, and say "thank you very much for asking but I am really all cookied out".
